8th Ed. New Lizardman army book and info

it wont change your playstyle but it will be abit stronger choise because of highmagic and PF and if skincs realy have beast lore
 
the ability to channel direct damage spells through skinks priests is very nice addition! Think about lore of death spells. If the channeling distance is 24", then our slann can hit characters 36" away! Even dwellers can be cast from a safe distance now!
 
I'm kinda disappointed that the Bastiladon is only strength 4, seems like it should be 5, though it is a lot cheaper than I thought it was gonna be.

Also pretty saddened by the lack of Lord-level skink priest. I suppose you could always go for one of the named Skink characters if they're level 3 or 4, but it's not the same...

Im disapointed with only one thing. Slann doesnt get anything to help him cast spells. Thats huge on the best caster in game. But its not the best anymore because book of hoeth brings HE to the best. thats sad sad sad...
We should have gotten atleast +d3 or something.
 
Jossy on warseer has a mate with the LM book.

Apparently the Troglodon isn't great,
" 3 attacks, toughness & strength 5, 4+ save, one use only roar which makes PF work on a 5+ 200p. "

PF if it could be used every turn would make it worth taking, but a one use only doesn't cut any ice.
 
Every turn would be alogical thing, like terrorgheist screaming, like frost phenix -1S, like VC chariots giving buffs to regen.
200 poins of sadness. and the problem is that you have to use the roar early in the game because very fast the trog will die.
 
it seems both of our new monsters are not as good as our current stegadon which they have made cheaper

this makes me both sad and happy at the same time..

does that guy on warseer have details on weather or not we only have 3 core?

and if we got spawnings ?
 
My favorite aspect I read (which hopefully I did correctly) is when a jungle swarm is in CC any supporting units also gets poison.

So a horde of Saurus with boosted Hands Of Glory, PF and poison would be awesome :D 6's are auto wound and extra attack.....
 
That was the other thing he hinted at, apparently you can buy upgrades for your Steg too, including a D3 wounding feature (though he didn't make it clear if the D3 wounding affects impact hits too, I assume not at the moment).

EDIT: Jossy also just confirmed, no Nakai once again.

Not a sausage...nothing at all with the exception of Krok-gar.

EDIT: Apparently D3 wounding for Steg DOES affect impact hits.
"Stegs - one of the upgrades gives it's impact hits D3 W's special rule.. That is good with D6+ 1 impact hits monstrous cav/infantry killer"

Razordon - Grapeshot @ st4. reroll arty dice on stand and shoot

Cold One Cav area few points cheaper and Cold Ones themselves have 2 attacks.
 
Slann can take discipline that gives 3 dice to channel.. It's not great, but it's both offensive and defensive, giving a better chance to get more power and dispel dice
 
heard somewhere that coc are 15slaves and upgrade to spears are 2slaves, yes you read it right 2slaves for spears :jawdrop:

Epic design fail, let's make the Slann mandatory for another edition of warhammer, it makes me wonder if the designers really play the game at all aside from the occasional fail of a battle report that features in WD. Surely they know that 8E warhammer doesn't work without a L4...

Not to mention misleading their customers by marketing a "Skink High Priest" miniature

Looks like I have to go back to the drawing board on my Slann-less army plan
 
Also the Bastilidon when charged gives no rear or flank, also you allocate 1 of its attack to be S10 + 1 hit if on the rear (mind blank on the name)

If you have a swarm in close combat, then all your close combat attacks are poisoned from everything

THERE EVERYWHERE!

That's... unexpected but can be really devastating!

BAM the bastidalonwith crapy snakes ontop is sudenly worth its points :D
 
at least the temple guard are cheaper making that compulsary unit less expensive its a shame thats there is no lord level skink though

I will not talk about the Troglodon rules. They made an awesome model and ruined it with rules, then finished it off @ 200 points. Worse. Than. A. Giant.
