8th Ed. New Lizardman army book and info

Note that original rumor was not clear... It said "Cold Ones have 2 attacks each with PF, cost is the same I think."

So, not really sure if the mounts themselves get 2 attacks, or the author just wanted to say that our riders get PF on both of their attacks.

My source told me Blade of Realities ignores Armor and Ward saves. Piranha Blade does (D3) wounds now. You can't gain extra attacks from any extra attacks you just gained like Red Fury from Vampires. The Carnosaurs upgrades are Swift Stride and the Griffen's Blood roar ( extra D6 for Terror tests, discarding lowest). Load Kroak is over 700 points. Chakax can either destroy magic items or just magic weapons ( not sure which). Cold Ones have 2 attacks each with PF, cost is the same I think. That is all the new info I got.

Random extra S4 attack for Cold ones dont justify their point cost. They have only 2+AS, so they die in random S4 shots too easily

If they are willing to change one stat of the cold one cav, they might have changed others. The reasoning seems to have been, keep them special, same points, better stats. Hopefully more has changed, like giving them 1+ armor save or a fancy new special rule. Something as simple as a new magic banner could turn the tides and make these worth taking again. I hope not to have anything as broken as Banner of the World Dragon, because hearing people whine about my broken army makes things less fun. I think something like a "reroll all ward saves" banner would be fun and could fit into the fluff as an anti-daemon banner, though it would work against anything with ward saves. To keep the points on the banner lower, you could make the banner's drawback be that the unit carrying it (as well as characters joined) cannot benefit from ward saves at all.

Someone asked if Wyssan's works on riders and mounts, the answer is yes, since it targets a unit. Would boost the unit to 10 str 5 and 10 str 6 attacks on the charge, which would be nice, especially if they all benefit from PF which would turn over into about 23 overall attacks on average.

EDIT: If the unit has only changed by the Cold One RIDERS having 2 attacks + PF, then the unit hasn't changed much at all. The omission of that single word had me excited for a second there!

Well, they got PF :(

I really hope they do make them viable, because I do love them models.

well our riders always had 2 atacks.

But not PF, so it would be a very insignificant change. Maybe they'll surprise us and give cold ones 2 attacks, but I get the feeling GW want us to buy monster kits from them instead of cans of Pledge from the supermarket.

Granted if these rumors are true, that is 20 (21 with champion) attacks with any 6 granting a bonus attack, essentially granting us about 12 hits, at S4 or S5 if hit with wildform, and even better strength if they charged, and that is just with 5 guys alone. Remember the command is also dropping in points, so we save 20 points right off the bat when buying FC and we gained PF and cold ones possible PF and +1 attack. For 35 points that is worth the investment considering we have better S and T than most cavalry in the game, pass Ld tests much easier due to Cold-blooded, have that bonus attack potential, and cause Fear. Sure the last one doesn't justify much, but it does contribute a decent amount due to the spells we have access to that can exploit it.

If that was true, the Carnosaur would be viable and every Warriors of Chaos army would have a Mutalith or Slaughterbrute.

+1

For todays romours i dont see me buying any new monster, my wallet is dancing from joy.

And i think theres a hell alot of CoC boxes kying in almost every store of GW because no sain person bought them because they sucked and there was more than enough in batalion (asumsion that everybody bought atleast 2 as i did)

if Cold ones get +1A and PF, they wont be getting any other "buffs" as their point value remains same. They coud be usable if they had 1+as, but Steggie gets cheaper and costs roughtly as much (or less) as 6 Cavs.

Very curious about the point value of bastilladon, the swarm spawning thing sounds cool, unless it's a bound spell

I have no Idea what you are talking about.... :D :D :D :D :D

another WS 3 S4 attack with PF doesn't make CoC any closer to being worth their current points. The problem with Primal Fury is that the quality of the attacks using it for most saurus (WS3 S4) unbuffed is so low in relation to what the competitive armies throw into combat.

I'm hoping it's not a one-use thing..... *imagines self-replenishing tar-pit* :D

@Slanputin, yes. Skink cloud refers to lots of little groups of Skirmishers. MSU type army. I see you asked that quite a few pages ago and I didn't see a response yet.

Qupakoco, thanks for getting back to me. Now, considering my apparent dearth of knowledge on terminology, what exactly does MSU stand for? :P

Multi Skink Unit?
Many Skinks Unlimited?
Mostly Skinks United?
Monstrous Skinks Unwitted?

The min boggles at the possibilities. :/

Multiple Small Units!

(I like "Mostly Skinks United")

Pretty sure they sold a lot of Daemon Princes though.

The last thing I'm hoping for is for Carnos or Troglodons to become must-haves, that is a damned expensive kit.

At the same time, I'm trying to maintain an open mind about every possible unit until we at least have the book. When the last edition of our book came out, there were throngs of people lining up on these forums to declare that the new Salamanders were completely nerfed and worthless, and that the Lizardmen were finished as an army because the Slann was completely neutered. I'm sure I'll have to be one of the voices of reason all over again, because some people just can't put their emotional selves in a rational mindstate to fairly evaluate the new army and how it plays.

I am with you, we jut have to learn how to play our new army! I like what i am seeing so far! Pf, an extra lore for the slann ( a very good lore ), an extra lore for skinks possibly two for high skinks, 3 new monsters ( even if they are not as competitive at least they are there versatility is always good), new unit of flyers, Skaly skin for skinks

I think the game should be balanced alright! But one of the coolest things about warhammer is the back story! I like armies being different and having diferent strengths and weaknesses! Thats the hole point of having some armies having to pay more than others for the exact same magic item. The game is not supposed to be perfectly balanced if it was they wouldn't do that with the magic items for example.

Ultimately the game is supposed to be fun! sportsmanship is accounted for in the tournaments after all isn't it?

Lol i had to register just so i could respond to this.

Ok i havent read the book and so i am still being hopeful but my concern is that nothing will change.
This about it. What are people fielding right now?
1) Slaan.
2) Temple guard
3) Salamanders
4) Saurus/s-krox
5) Terradons and chamelion skinks
6) EotG

And by the looks of it people are still going to play the same old boring list.
I was hoping they would make the carnosaur good so that there would be a reason for taking it. 180 points for a T6 3+ armour save monster is not much to ask.
Honestly I would bet that hardly anythign will change. People might add a trogladon to their list but thats about it. How boring. Nothing new to learn

Why are you guys complaining that CoC arent as good as dragon princes or HE cold one riders...

You have base S and T of 4 meaning harder for units to wound you and you wound more often even after the first round of combat.

If they have PF and a trog next to them... which is very likely if you take both by the sounds of it... then you will be getting an extra attack for every 3 attacks.

The only real advantage dragon princes have combat wise is their high WS.

And WoC knights and troops are riduculous... you dont want to stoop to their level do you?
