Tutorial Seraphon List for Battletome 2.o

I don't think it has been theory crafted around. I like the idea though. It can also be used to help us control who gets to dictate the charges. Provided your opponent doesn't have strong bonuses to dispelling.
It could also provide a use for Saurus Guard. Getting 10+ models of Warriors or Skinks all within 1” would be tough, but I think a unit of 5 Guard could manage it

The main reason I consider them casual is that they aren't able to hold up against other tournament list. Fyreslayers, Dok, and OBR will tear them apart pretty handily. Behemoth heavy list in particular will suffer vs Fyreslayers and OBR.

what would be the problem vs them? Think Coalesced helps alot againts them. And with knight we can splash tons of MW with the starpriest. Althought, like every cavelry list, very carefull one at a time charges. Cant take the punch back. Think holding back, staying out of charge range, is key. 2 more screen units would be perfect, but cant have it all. Think it could be semi-competative. But i’ll give it a spin hopefully before ghb 2020.

The Main issue is that DoT can teleport the Flammers into range and nuke pretty much any behemoth they want to remove. Behemoths just put too many resources into too easily removed of a target. If our summoning were still intact it wouldn't be an issue. Even with Coalesced's durability.

Knights won't be able to kill meaningful numbers of PE Mortek Guard even while under lots of buffs. Warriors are just a better platform for stacking buffs. So, while you might be able to control charges vs Fyreslayers (if they fail some prayers) and Mortek; you won't be able to shift them off of objectives. The following counter punch will also clean up any Knights you have in combat.

I think just about any list is viable outside of GT's and MTs. I have won some RTTS with some weird jank in the past. So most of my list rating is based on how likely I believe that list is to posses the tools which make it capable of going 5-0 at large events vs. top ranked players. It is all theorycraft at the moment. So, I wouldn't let my opinion on the matter prevent you from trying the type of list you want to run. If you see a path to victory then take it.

Hey @LizardWizard , how competitive could be a list with some units of Saurus Guard (10+/unit) as Saurus 2.0 and Kroxigors? That doesn't mean you can't use Saurus Warriors.

I don't have my book yet (damnn virus) so I can't make some lists yet but I'm curious.

It could be moderately competitive. Kroxigor are pretty competitive. Are you wanting to make Saurus Guard Fighty? I think they work better in 10x to 5x as Slann wounds.

Hey @LizardWizard could you explain a few things. Firstly how do salamander hunting packs work. I noticed you have 12 in your Kroak with rippers list (I like that list alot) so does that 3 sallies and 9 handlers?and also how does that equal 240 points salamanders say 120 points for 3. What am I missing. Also how would you play that list? And specific strategies? Tips on how to position units?

Salamanders are now 80 points for 1 Salamander and 3 handlers. So a unit of 12 is 240 points. It has 3 Salamanders and 9 Handlers.

As for tips:
  • Hold back your Rippers
  • Use your 40x unit of Skink for turn 1-2
    • Pile all the Skink Buffs onto them
  • LoSat your Salamanders into Range, but don't throw them away. You want a minimum of two turns worth of shooting out of them.
    • You can either put them in hard to reach areas or off to the sides where your opponent won't want to send his units to deal with them.
  • Once you feel it is fine time, put all your Skink Buffs onto the Ripperdactyls. If you make your charge roll with them then dump all your CP onto the Rippercheif for extra attacks on the 9x Ripperdactyl Riders.

Thanks!
Though where does it say salamanders points are 80 now? Is the app outdated? Or was it an faq?

App has completely screwed them. Salamanders are 80 and no discount anymore. Other units seem to be correct.

Yeah the warscrolls is up to date but the points aren't.

Also I really like the Kroak with rippers and dracothians tail MW spam. And is there a way to reduce them into smaller point games? Would the same concepts be good at lower points?

Not sure I would run Rippers at lower points. At 1k-1500 I would switch to Terradons.

Gotcha how would you adapt dracothians tail MW spam to 1k / 1.5k? Would that still be tournament quality at lower points?
I am not sure what I like for our book at 1k yet. As an army we are so depended on hero buffs that is become hard to make what works at 2k sale down to 1k where we only have 4 hero lots.

Maybe something like this:

1k Kroak & Salamanders

Allegiance: Seraphon
- Constellation: Dracothion's Tail

Leaders
Lord Kroak
(320)
- General
- Spell: Stellar Tempest

Battleline:
5 x Saurus Guard (100)
10 x Skinks (60)
- Meteoric Javelins Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers

Units:
12 x Salamander Hunting Pack (240)
12 x Salamander Hunting Pack (240)

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs:
Balewind Vortex
(40)

Total: 1000 / 1000
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 63

If you wanted to lean more onto Kroak then you could drop some Salamander to bring a Skink Starpriest and Saurus Astrolith Bearer. At which point I would go FoS over DT.

Those are all pretty scary at 1K... Things to consider when the sky clears and I get around to playing my first tourney (guys I hang with like the 1K format).
