Tutorial Seraphon List for Battletome 2.o

I am not sure what I like for our book at 1k yet. As an army we are so depended on hero buffs that is become hard to make what works at 2k sale down to 1k where we only have 4 hero lots.

Maybe something like this:

1k Kroak & Salamanders

Allegiance: Seraphon
- Constellation: Dracothion's Tail

Leaders
Lord Kroak
(320)
- General
- Spell: Stellar Tempest

Battleline:
5 x Saurus Guard (100)
10 x Skinks (60)
- Meteoric Javelins Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers

Units:
12 x Salamander Hunting Pack (240)
12 x Salamander Hunting Pack (240)

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs:
Balewind Vortex
(40)

Total: 1000 / 1000
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 63

If you wanted to lean more onto Kroak then you could drop some Salamander to bring a Skink Starpriest and Saurus Astrolith Bearer. At which point I would go FoS over DT.

Would probably do that. When using Kroak do I try and keep him back out of range and use starpriest to channel spells? Keep in mind I fight Khorne and LoN mostly so they have lots of MW's to try and nuke him with. Or do I get him up close with the guard to take his damage

Kroak Meeting Engagement

Allegiance: Seraphon
- Starborne
- Dracothion's Tail

Spearhead:
Terradon Chief
(70)
- General
- Command Trait: Nimble
- Artefact: Godbeast Pendant

Main Body:
Lord Kroak
(320)
- Spell: Stellar Tempest
5 x Saurus Guard (100)
6 x Terradon Riders (180)
- Sunleech Bolas

Rearguard:
8 x Salamander Hunting Pack (160)
8 x Salamander Hunting Pack (160)

Total: 990 / 1000
Extra Command Points: 0
Wounds: 64

I feel like Dracothion's tail and Coalesced will be the go to Subfactions for Meeting Engagement. I am by no means an expert on ME tactics or list building. I have played it all of 6 times.

- Coalesced
- Koatl's Claw

- Lances

Main Body:
Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur
(250)
- General
- Command Trait: Dominant Predator
- Artefact: Eviscerating Blade

20 x Saurus Warriors (180)
- Clubs

Rearguard:

I would play it on a match by match basis. The Starpriest can be added in case you need the casting vector. The Guard are there to help vs alpha strikes and to let kroak walk up table.

It could be moderately competitive. Kroxigor are pretty competitive. Are you wanting to make Saurus Guard Fighty? I think they work better in 10x to 5x as Slann wounds.

Yeah, I have some models at home and I love their design so I'd like to have a list to use them without being a Slann shield.

I've heard they are pretty tough, like tanking this dwarf hero on a dragon for a couple of turns.

Point per wound and damage Saurus Warriors are better and have easy access to decent battalions. In general Saurus Guard will be less efficient than Gaurd. In part because you will want to bring some form of a battalion in order to gain access to Aetherquartz Brooch.

All that being said, here is a list focused on Saurus Guard:

Koatl's Claw Saurus Guard and Firelance

Allegiance: Seraphon
- Constellation: Koatl's Claw
- Mortal Realm: Hysh

Leaders:
Saurus Sunblood
(130)
- General
- Command Trait: Dominate Predator
- Artefact: Eviscerating Blade

Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (110)
Saurus Astrolith Bearer (140)
- Artefact: Aetherquartz Brooch
Lord Kroak (320)
Skink Starseer (140)
- Spell: Celestial Harmony
Skink Starpriest (120)
- Spell: Hand of Glory

Battleline:
20 x Saurus Guard (400)
5 x Saurus Knights (100)
- Lances
5 x Saurus Knights (100)
- Lances
5 x Saurus Knights (100)
- Lances

Units:
6 x Salamander Hunting Pack (160)

Battalions:
Firelance Temple-host
(160)

Total: 1980 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 1
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 129

Edited list after talking myself into a new direction :D

List would almost certainly be better with a unit of 40x Saurus Warrior and Bound Geminids than 20x Saurus Guard.

You would likely be better off running this exact list with 40x Saurus Warriors instead of 20x Saurus Guard and spending the 80 points you save on Bound Geminids. You could also drop the Sunblood and Salamanders to bring Lord Kroak if you wanted.
Do you prefer the Oldblood on Carno as opposed to on foot? I know two carnos are awesome, but I guess I worry about him getting sniped. Is that really a concern?

I like both. I think if I took it in the Kroak direction I would change out to an Oldblood on foot.

Sunblood might also be a better candidate for the Eviscerating blade.

Okay, Changed the list. LOL. Got talked into a better build :D

Also realized that an Oldblood is pointless for buffing Saurus Guard in Koatl's Claw.

@LizardWizard I just noticed they gave the Dread Saurian new rules (now has a more approriate 35Ws) - think you could craft a list for one or more?

Thanks!
I am still not a huge fan of the Dread Suarian. He is okay in coalesced where he can become fairly tanky. The model is amazing, but as a unit he feels to inefficient a point investment. Maybe something along the lines of this:

Allegiance: Seraphon
- Constellation: Coalesced

Leaders:
Skink Starseer
(140)
- General
- Command Trait: Master of Star Rituals
- Artefact: Cloak of Feathers
- Spell: Hand of Glory

Behemoths:
Dread Saurian

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs:
Chronomantic Cogs
(80)

Total: 1970 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 119

Thanks you very much. I'll give it a try as soon as I can play with my friends.

The Mainbody can only have double sized Battleline.

I am not sure if you can fit all the bases in the deployment zone. :-/

(And i think Terradons feed too many easy wounds to your oponent. It is the same problem we have with skinks since the start of MEs.)

I think coalescend is the way to go for meeting engagements.

Could well be. Fitting the bases shouldn't be too hard since you only have to fit up to half the base and the rest can hang over though.

I don't have my GHB2019 with me. What are the rules for deployment into reserves?
