yes i know it, but my point is that if sbd take 2 drop army your only defence line is placing your most important models out of range of enemy threat.
Keeping your models out of enemy range will always make you save and you dont have to think to much about taking first turn. You can make army made full of batalions, but question is if spending 300 points or more in batalions is worth more than 40 unit of wariors.


Im waiting for designers comentary about summon. For me it is most interesting part of book...

Agreed. Some clarification on our summoning would be greatly appreciated.
 
with our old battalions the question of spending points for the benefits was less of a question. now that the abilities have been split between temple and star hosts, I am not convinced they are always worth it.

Top value battalions imo are Sunclaw Starhost, Shadowstrike Temple-Host, Firelance Starhost, and Sunclaw Temple-Host.

Totally, but that choice of first turn is still a huge part of competitive play. A vast majority of those top end lists are sitting in that ~5ish range (with the obvious exception of 1drop DoT). If you hide everything out of range there's always the risk they just give you first turn, forcing you to move up or sacrifice your turn AND still get doubled.

It's a tricky situation, and one that I think will ultimately be a pretty massive part of our list design considering so much of our strength is tied up in characters that really can't take a punch.

It'll be very interesting to see what lists start to come out on top!

You got point, but now there been applyed some new mechanism's like run/shoot/charge with spending aditional CP for making 6 to run its making a lot of potential to any skink unit razordons/salamanders/ bastilodons eaven terrodons and rippers. And here is place for youra battalion and reducing drops (thunderquake with swift ability)
 
@LizardWizard would salamanders be an effective way to back up saurus warriors? I’m also thinking that Starseers could be an effective way to get them in combat as they lack the speed of saurus knights in a firelance temple host.
 
Has anyone had a successful list with the Dread yet? I keep trying to fit it in and I have a hard time finding a good place for it.
 
the skink spell to avoid battleshock is something I am looking at a lot these days... give the caster the mages staff bonus to hope for a 10+, and you are golden for a turn. Downside, it can be dispelled I guess, but we always have a CP option if we need to.

i just wish the slann had access to the skink lore :(

sacrificing one of those sweet starseer or skinkpriest on-scroll spells is a bummer.
 
I'd like to see slanns' and skninks' lore switched. I really need only single spell from slann's lore and none if I don't face hordes. And there are at least 2 spells that I want from skinks. Btw, Extend Astromatrix is a bit more interesting than I thought. I really could use it if I had spare casting slot after CH, HoG and ToS.

Equilibrium, Tempest, and Apotheosis are all useful. I can imagine Kroak needing to heal himself against armies with shooting.

Yep, it is mandatory for Coalesced IMO. In the podcast that we didn't record all of on Monday @Erta Wanderer and I talked about how necessary Celestial Harmony is to Coalesced.

Kroak +3 cast and bastilodons and sallies.... Holy shit !!!

i mean its like incredible Kroak with such bonus to cast. it is perfect!
 
Next time i will try birdstrike with terrodons saurus knights and wariors and guards. some foot heroes to get sallies.
