8th Ed. New Lizardman army book and info

The more I look at this rumors the more I am liking my army!

Just think about it! Lizardman like all armies are going to have units that are not as effective for their point cost however if you look at the overal picture this is what we got in my opinion.

Pros:

1. Scar Vets are beter PF, point reduction and can take carnosaurs
2. Skink chiefs are becoming useful now they are cheaper can take ripers and have a better save
3. Rippers are just amassing, whith the right use they can be devastating just imagine two units of 3 on a rear charge ( 30 atacks on average with killing blow repeat to hit and S 4 plus the 6 skins) causing fear and they fly i just love this new release, add 6 free stomps to that
4. Terradons they are better now, have the bolas upgrade
5. A slann getting lore of HM and being able to switch between lores that is just great. If they jeep loremaster they would be even better than teclis ( i gess we will just have to wait and see)
6. Skink priest now have beasts and SS ALSO THE POTENTIAL TO BE LEVEL 3
7. Bastilodons possibly a pasive buff that helps our greatest weekness I plus whatever he does on combat and that beam ( we will have to see the point cost) but hey when is more options a bad thing
8. Swarms might ve usefull
9. Temple guard point reduction, now with PF they are going to be great
10. PF is just great it just bumps the whole army up I love that rule
11. Carnosaur got PF and can be taken by heros, that is a win to me.

Cons;

1. Less core
2. Salamanders point increase ( however that was expected and they dont seem to have lost their killing power)
3. Leadership reduction in all skinks, that just sucks hahaha but well something is gotta give

Unknown by worried:

1. What happend to the blowpipes?
2. Slann diciplines
3. Troglodon, still a mistery
4. Kroxigor strength
5. Magic items


To me this is a great release that is only going to make us stronger, it is expected that not everithing is going to be wins, because think about it. We where allready a powerfull army.

I just think we have to adjust and lern to use ur new army!

Just my thoughts tho, what do u think

This isn't the first time I read this but what was dropped and where did we hear about it?

Saurus, Skink/Kroxigor, Skink Skirmisher

Jungle Swarm never counted towards the minimum for Core so I never really considered them a core. That's the only thing moved that I'm aware of.
 
do you know if skinks still have WS and T 2? And saurus WS3? i hope these stats are gone up by 1 point
 
Cant see how terradons "are better now" with reduced LD. Random 3 flaming hits wont do much, and I wouldnt count on them to negate regeneration for one round of shooting.

LD 5 frenzied skink MC. Must be some good shiet what designers have been smoking.
 
To the point of magic items, I was talking to my buddy who plays high elves and he is figuring that we will get that extra third page of magic items similar to what they got since, like the elves, we are all ancient and mystical. Makes sense to me, we are the oldest race in the game so we should have a big collection of items.

If you zoom in and compare it with other stats it looks more like a 5 than a 3. Would be nice though :p
 
One thing I just tought of: they do mention Coldblooded in the WD I hope? Not that PF is our new "army-wide rule"?

I hope the Cloak of Feathers stays. Having a flying skink priest for only 25 points was great.
 
I think WS and T are staying 2 for skinks and WS 3 for Saurus

You are right i was mistaken, I was talking about the swarms haha my bad

You know, you have a point there frenzied ld 5 is a bad thing I dont know how I missed that. Still I think a good deployment and maybe some babysitting could make them really useful. About the Terradons, I am not saying they are good now, probably I wont field them, how ever they now get stomps, a scaly skin and have the bolas upgrade I believe that is a good trade of for the -1 leadership ( not that I like it ). I would be more tempted to use them than I was with the last book.

The skink chief being so cheap now might warrant tossing one in to your unit of 3 rippers. You could kit him out to be pretty tanky. I'm thinking you could get him a 2+ rerollable armor save and then a sword of might. Though of course cannons will still be an issue. The EotG is sounding more and more necessary.

Terradon's always had a Stomp attack. They have always been MC.

It will be a new thing if Razordons and Sallies get a stomp though.

Buddy plays HE too and mentioned the same thing. We'll know soon enough but it seems reasonable.

Well, that's the thing. You can spend x points and y effort to make them feasible... or spent those points and that effort more productively. Its frankly the same issue as the Carnosaur.

I hear you on that one, is almost as good as L 7 not cold blooded

Its still only 50% reliable. That's not nearly reliable enough. With such poor stats, you need to be careful what they are engaging already. What's the point if half the time they are going to go off the rails?
 
but it bumps up to 77% or so with a re-roll :shifty:

So BSB's might be a bit more important this edition....
