GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

The Carnosaur I thought wasn't too bad, though it loses an Attack it gets an extra point of Toughness and 2 additional Wounds (when ridden by an Oldblood) - coupled with Cannons no longer being the OP laser-guided missiles of 8th Edition and our ability to cripple enemy shooting with Monsoon, it means it'll be significantly more survivable than it was.
I haven't thought about that this way.
Looking through other armybooks I've noticed it could be on par with the other monsters. Maybe I've expected it to be the alpha predator it is meant to be, but seeing as it is only 170 points (which a sizebale reduction in point to the original one) We might even be able to fit in more than one or two (granted we can only take so many Oldbloods).
What I don't like: only 2 stomps (but that has been reduced for many other monster-type creatures), D3 multiwounds only vs monsters (not vs. monstrous infantry, characters and machines. INI 2 and WS 3 makes with the new "who goes first" rule makes it hard to actually strike first.
What I do like: lower price tag, swiftstride, the fact I can actualy field 3 or maybe even 4 (haven't looked into the actual character points yet) into regular battle. The fact it adds wounds to the character - how the ridden monster is fought I have yet to read upon. The fact it's T 6 now.

Ad Coldboolded - Fair point. It doesn't work fo the genereic "leadership test" as far as I understand it, which is a large nerf, however I do understand CB was a pretty strong ability and it might deserve this slight adjustment. (some models have been compesated for it? eg. Trogolodon which is now Ld 8 with stubborn and Immune to psychology.

You are absolutely right in saying that we need to test it to determine it's real strength.

Thanks for commenting and reintroducing a little faith in my gloomy days of recent .) Will be eagerly watching out for your Arcane Journal!

MniWargaming has already posted a 1500 TOW battle of Lizardmen vs. Skaven. According to the comments, they did mess up some rules (with movement and the spears), but this should give some general idea of what Saurus are like.

Is "Cupped hands of the Old Ones" a must for Slann now ?

It's certainly a good thing to have - being able to turn a Miscast into a Strength 6 AP -2 small blast template centred on an enemy character is both a great way to protect your Slann and effectively a free, good spell for us.

And welcome! Good to have another TOW player on board (though it'd be best to continue this discussion in this forum: https://www.lustria-online.com/forums/lizardmen-discussion/)! :)

I thought I'd be able to pretty much play any of my armies in TOW with little change.
No!
Been through the legacy lists for my Ogres, Chaos Dwarfs, Lizards, Daemons, and other lists for Chaos and Dwarfs and greenskins.
Apart from Ogres with only a couple of base changes, I have to change all my dwarf and chaos dwarf bases. Most of my Chaos and Lizards and Daemons and a very large portion of my orcs/goblins.
Well non of my hard earned $ will be going to GW. I found a close to home vendor who is supplying base converters. It's still going to be an expensive exercise.

As you're not going through GW base converters are bound to be affordable so it won't be too bad costwise, and in any case you don't really need to adapt bases to the new sizes unless you're playing with someone or in a group who are going for the adapted base sizes (or planning to play in tournaments, which of course you won't be able to do so much for the non-focus factions anyway...).

I found this recent video from Mediocre Hobbies about rebasing some AoS models for TOW. I thought it might prove interesting.

My brethren in The Greater Plan!

Laptop broke on Christmass Eve and haven't recovered all the back up yet. I've missed a few things huh?

Quite a relief Kroxies fit the 40mm bases. I still have my old Start Collecting! Seraphon boxes with old Warriors and Cold Ones, I just need bases. I don't know if I will use too many new Warriors from AoS for filling ranks, but I'm defo using the new Kroxies.

Now I only need to know how to magnetize my Stegas and Basties to switch from rectangular and oval bases, can anyone help please?

I'd suggest just putting some magnets in the bottom of their feet. The legs on stegadon are already hollow and so are the back legs of Bastion, so just fill them in with some putty and shove the magnets in. You'd just need to drill out holes on Bastie's front legs and you're good to go.
Alternatively glue the models on some tactical rocks/ruins and put the magnets there.
Hope that helps!

Yes, I noticed they're hollow, but I don't know if magnets will hold to the other side of base.

Thanks!

Ouch! Starborne get kind of hurt by the new battlescroll. :(

SERAPHON
Starborne Command Traits, Lord of Celestial Resonance:
Change to: ‘The first time each phase that this general either successfully casts a spell that is not unbound, successfully unbinds a spell or successfully dispels an endless spell, you receive 2 cosmic power points instead of 1.'

Plus, ALL of our key Starborne heroes went up by +10 - +20.
