I haven't thought about that this way.The Carnosaur I thought wasn't too bad, though it loses an Attack it gets an extra point of Toughness and 2 additional Wounds (when ridden by an Oldblood) - coupled with Cannons no longer being the OP laser-guided missiles of 8th Edition and our ability to cripple enemy shooting with Monsoon, it means it'll be significantly more survivable than it was.
Looking through other armybooks I've noticed it could be on par with the other monsters. Maybe I've expected it to be the alpha predator it is meant to be, but seeing as it is only 170 points (which a sizebale reduction in point to the original one) We might even be able to fit in more than one or two (granted we can only take so many Oldbloods).
What I don't like: only 2 stomps (but that has been reduced for many other monster-type creatures), D3 multiwounds only vs monsters (not vs. monstrous infantry, characters and machines. INI 2 and WS 3 makes with the new "who goes first" rule makes it hard to actually strike first.
What I do like: lower price tag, swiftstride, the fact I can actualy field 3 or maybe even 4 (haven't looked into the actual character points yet) into regular battle. The fact it adds wounds to the character - how the ridden monster is fought I have yet to read upon. The fact it's T 6 now.
Ad Coldboolded - Fair point. It doesn't work fo the genereic "leadership test" as far as I understand it, which is a large nerf, however I do understand CB was a pretty strong ability and it might deserve this slight adjustment. (some models have been compesated for it? eg. Trogolodon which is now Ld 8 with stubborn and Immune to psychology.
You are absolutely right in saying that we need to test it to determine it's real strength.
Thanks for commenting and reintroducing a little faith in my gloomy days of recent .) Will be eagerly watching out for your Arcane Journal!
