Plastic Tetto'ekko:

An all-round solid update to the Finecast original.

Nice details! I just spotted him on IG.
Does it look like double skink? Or perhaps patrially?

I admire the lack of flight stands in these new models (in general), but I am curious to how the will hold on the battlefield and especially transport.

Grrr, !mrahil

I like that the skink itself is a bit more active, scrying in his little orb. The big circular thing is a bit much though.

The newly teased rule:
rtKETAregBDD2Tzk.jpg

On the bright side; finally an actually new rule. Only took them 3 units.
On the down side; not a fan of once-per-game rules, they tend to eat up too much of a unit's power budget and tend to make it feel lackluster outside of that one rule.

Also, it seems oddly weak for a once-per-battle ability. It's only a 5+ ward and it isn't even a guaranteed effect. The astrolith is a 6+ and permanent, this doesn't seem that much better, even if it can buff someone on the other side of the battlefield.
Not a huge fan of the revealed rule. Once per battle and a roll? That means you have to keep this model alive to at least round 3 AND have enough units left on which to use this ability. I wonder if GW is taking away Seraphon's extra command point generation?

The upsite is 'Unit on te Battlefield' instead of 'within X inch'

Yes, that's a good point. It could be anywhere. Plus, it could be a Slann, or a unit of Saurus/Skinks, or a Bastiladon... of all of them.

Tetto'Eko's new model is not that different from the current one in essence, all things considered:

While not technically my favourite model, I still love it, more because it has options: staff, standing up or siting down, and headdress. This will help to make a Tetto'Eko for TOW or a customized Starseer on AoS.

I can NOT believe we are not getting an Army Box, let's just wait and see what models are NOT getting an update.

A new model with glyphs... so anotbher chance for GW to mess up:

I have trouble with the 2 top glyphs the left one is just nothing like any of the ones I know.
The top right one is an E but upside down... perhaps it could be a 100.000

The others from the right are Y W/U A X

Anyone an idea?

Grrr, !mrahil

100,000! That's a good memory. I was just assuming it was an "E" regardless of its arrangement. I know this is a REAL stretch, but what if the other unknown glyph is a redesign of the the old glyph for "T"?

"Waxy" is a word, but it doesn't reveal much.

The old model was still very good and among my favorites... plus, i like more the old sitting pose, rather than the new one.
I wonder what @NIGHTBRINGER will have to say on this.

I shouldn't be negative, but:
- model wise, i would have liked new kroxy rather than this.
- rule wise, the ability seems kinda underwhelming

Not my cup of tea, the Failcast sculpt is much better in my opinion. The standing pose on the new model looks awkward and the new sitting pose is even worse. Looks like the skink is sitting on the toilet looking at his phone orb.

They're probably still coming... save the better stuff for last.

That's about the only sort of impressive thing about the ability.

Kroxigor are listed as "sold out online", and we seem to be replacing all finecast, so I would assume we get those as well, alongside new stuff for all the finecast.

So:
Skink priest, razordons, sunblood, Kroxigor, Eternity Warden, and then we're up to date I guess.

I think that might mostly just be the angle of the pictures.

As for the sitting one; it's a normal enough pose. GW can't help that culturally we've started to associate this pose with phones and toilets instead of kings/wizards/heroes sitting on thrones looking into skulls/magic orbs/etc.

you're probably right on this

No, its something particular to this new sculpt. There is just something about it. Maybe its the hunched over position. Maybe its the way he is looking at his orb. Maybe it is the positioning of his legs. Likely it is a combination of things, but it is undeniably (and uniquely) there.

I don't get that same impression from the finecast tetto, or any of the Slann, or from this guy (on the left)...

It isn't necessarily a bad thing though. You like "dynamic" models. Rather than the skink just sitting there doing nothing, our boi is working hard dropping a deuce. :joyful::joyful::joyful: It would make a great conversion piece. I can already see the green stuff sculpted toilet paper roll and everything! :D

Salamanders aren't meant to have agility or dynamic movement though, they're essentially Lizardman artillery pieces that are meant to stand there and incinerate things.

Additionally in lore they are water-dwelling ambush predators - not only are water-dwelling creatures sluggish on land (if they can even climb out onto land at all), but ambush predators spend a lot of their time waiting for their prey to approach, and only need to make use of short bursts of speed to achieve a successful kill.

All in all, I can certainly see why GW gave their Salamander a sluggish design and am certainly not bothered by it.
+1

As you know, it isn't often that we agree on anything, but this is one of those rare times!

I meant that this particular pose, and similar poses, used to be pretty normal, before phones where a thing.
I get where you're coming from, but I assume that the sculptor doesn't associate the pose with phones and toilets and was thinking more of something like this statue. Just different associations with the pose.

I'm not arguing intention, I'm arguing end result. Obviously the sculpter didn't purposely sculpt the new Tetto model with the intention of making it look like it was sitting on the toilet, but unfortunately that's how it turned out.

So, I wonder if Seraphon will have a bigger reveal at Adepticon? Maybe more than one model?

Continuing on my previous post. I'd guess that Seraphon could get a tease of either some new model/unit/monster or a few images of models we expect; Sunblood, Warden, Priest, Razordon, or Guard. I think GW will hold off on big reveals like Knights & Krox until close to the Summer release.

That said, Adepticon is a big event and possible to have something splashy. Maybe an updated plastic Dread? Smaller, but still a BIG plastic kit?
