AoS General's Handbook finally announced !!

you asked for the points because you were too lazy to look yourself? and there is a link in my message as well if you'd care to click on it

That is indeed a very good question. I wasn't even using him at 100 points, just didn't really worth it. Can't even begin to think about it but maybe veterans somehow use it and I ignore it ? All of the changes were towards really good balance, so it's either a typo or we definitely are missing something !

He hasn't been changed apart from his cost, it was always just models in range. I suppose he can sit in the middle of a line of guard reaching probably 10 models so it's not terrible. But justifying him at 100 was hard. Now he's out for me..

Ooof, a little bit harsh!

I can see his command ability being quite powerful certainly for smaller 1000pt games, you could get a unit of saurus warriors 6" from charging on a teleport and really do some damage without having lost any of the horde and getting that double attack bonus on 3's and 4's. With 25 models in range to attack, you'd send out 13-20 wounds to save with your spears.

Is ok mate i got this:D also i am a little lost for what model they talk about?

Yeah I rarely used him as well, but with hordes becoming stronger any ability to improve their movement is pretty valuable. Combined with the fact that we have great movement now anyway his ability has become much more valuable. I would say those 20 points more are worth it.

I am very tempted to try out a Sunclaw Starhost with an Oldblood and Slann with Great Rememberer (or leaving the oldblood in reserve).

By either doing the double teleport or teleport/summon you end up with a 6" charge range horde, buffed by the Sunclaw battalion and if you are really sneaky the astrolith too. That throws out a lot more damage. If you throw a skink priest or a mystic shield (or both) in there then even better.

Really expensive mind!

Edit: Realised you'd need to Summon the Oldblood (on a 4+ with Astrolith) as he would need to be the general to use his trait so no great rememberer.

But you would have to use the 2 teleports and waste one on the oldblood. Does give an almost guaranteed charge with the rerolls but still feels a little meh to me
Well, if you ignore the teleport for now, and just look at a unit of 40 Saurus marching around on a table that does have some pieces of terrain on it you will see his benefits I think. Such large units are so clumsy, except in very open terrain, those 3" can make a big difference.

EDIT: And also you could just summon him. Reserve the points, port two Saurus units, and then summon the Oldblood behind them. Summon value of 5 is rather easy.

Yeah but am so tempted to make the sunclaw starhost with 40 warriors and a sunblood supported with a starpriest or a scar veteran xD the tactic looks dope :D

Yeah we have SO many synergies going, previously our bad movement hampered us a bit with that so we often couldn't use them that well.
Now with the teleport suddenly A LOT more tactics are open allowing us to use all those sweet synergies. :)

Btw in order to ua the teleport u gonna have to have a slann ?

No, that is our allegiance ability. You can always use it.
But if you have a Slann as your general you can choose one command trait for him that allows you to teleport twice instead of once per round as long as your general is alive.

Woah good to know :D

With the GHB2017 the Slann really went from "meh, played it once, he's mediocre" to "he's awesome and in half of my lists".

That being said: There are some cool things for the others as well. Just the Skinks are not-so-good generals because none of them has a cool command ability. But you could play a Skink horde list making use of that double rites command trait and using Inspiring Presence to minimize battleshock.
