What are you doing today hobbywise?

I have most of the boxes and the outsides look good, so of course they want them. I get it but like with old minis the cost has become insane. If GW re-released the Dogs of War I would probably get a loan to finish up the units I'm missing. I won't spend $200 for Al-Muktars no matter how much I want more bodies for the basic five I already own. Same with old halflings or if I was offered the Mordheim Averland models with halberd.

Yeah, no kidding. Apparently, my Mordheim Marienburg minis are worth about $25-50 each now? Insane.

Resized_20251204_002908.jpegWorking on my Wood Elves, so many half painted and underwhelming base work. After these I'll finish my slayers and the choice of what army to work on over my vacation time later this month. Dogs of War, High Elves, Chaos Mortals or do the repaint of my Tomb Kings or touchups to my Empire. I was gifted a End Times Vermin Lord a few years back and that is also a consideration... I need to retire so I have more time.

Tomb Kings and High Elves take my vote

Dogs of War sound neat. Since we're voting, I'll vote for that one!

Today we (as gaming association) hosted the event "games under christmas' tree", with a vast selection of board games currently available in stores, to give "present ideas" to families and people :)

Currently awaiting bits for a kitbash I want to do. I have also been thinking of getting the new marauders and retrofitting them on 25 mm bases, so I can use them for 6th and 8th edition games as well. Also, with that in mind, I have decided to strip, convert and repaint the older marauders to represent Kurgan troops, convert the 6th edition and 7th edition marauder horsemen as Kurgans (green stuff furs and such), use the Darkoath infantry and cavalry minis I bought to represent Hung tribesmen, and use the newest marauders as Norse.

Ooh, I like it. A nice diverse collection of Chaos Marauder cultures.

Yeeej, that was the one my brother had as a kid. :)
Good old Lego set.

Have fun

Grrr, !mrahil

I am a big fan of the old Pirates theme. Really wish GW would make a proper pirates faction for... anything, really, and I'm more than a little salty that my Privateers are no longer playable in Warmachine. :meh:

Blood and Plunder has been a nice chance to pay some naval battles in 28mm goodness. Bring on the mighty galleon, curse when you realise that the points limit of the battle mean you have a slow moving powerhouse and not enough crew to make the best of it! XD

I've been challenging myself with the sea-raider Chaos force. I'm deliberately making it in such a way that they can easily be played as a counts as B&P pirate force.

I've just started building for B and P. Of course while my friend went for normal pirates like any sane person would, I had to build an inland force with rangers and natives. Not even poison arrow natives. Will build a proper pirate force soon, just need to decide what nation.

Blood and Plunder? Interesting. I'll have to look into that. (he says, all the while thinking of playing it using his Lego Pirate theme figures....)

Meanwhile, a while back someone posted a Warhammer/Sesame Street mashup with Sesame Street characters in a 40K style ABC format, and I was wondering which subject those were posted under? I need the Big Bird/Lord of Change mashup pic for... reasons not pertaining to my Daemons of Chaos army at all...:hilarious:

Yeah, can attest to Blood & Plunder being a lot of fun. It's the kind of game best balanced around 200-400pts though, which often means you shouldn't use a ship larger than a sloop or a brig if you're playing the sea battles.

There's also the issue that the larger the game, the more men you need to start with in each unit. While not much of an issue in land battles, it can present a problem if there's a spot on a ship that you're trying to fill but there's limited space to put models (i.e. crow's nests).
