What are you doing today hobbywise?

Finally got the Forgeworld Spartan I ordered nearly a month ago, and just in time before I leave to visit my relatives over Christmas and New Years.

I also got to enjoy a 1000-credit skirmish game of Necromunda with a recent newcomer to my local area - my Van Saar vs his Cawdor. The game ended in a tie with both gangs bottled and our last fighters getting put out of action in the same turn.

I contemplated making an army of kobolds... then wisely decided not to.
For Warhammer or something else?

I'd honestly be interested to see you make an army of Kobolds, particularly the version of them you choose, as they seem to vary between being the miniature Goblins of early D&D, the miniature dragon-men from later D&D and undead Skaven in Warcraft. Not to mention the rules you'd use for them.

Also before I left to visit my folks, I got some progress done on a merry band of critically lost skaven for a counts-as Genestealer-infected Cawdor gang.

The arch-warlock I painted up a long while ago is my gang's leader, with Cult icon, mesh armour, polearm and hand flamer. The other two, using models from Punga Miniatures, are my champions.

I still need to source a rat ogre as the "aberration", and convert some stormvermin into wielding polearm-blunderbusses.

If you're looking for more sci-fi Skaven, then Mantic's Veer-myn should be your port of call - affordable plastics that look great against 40K models:

These would work well for an alternative model range for GSC in general. However, I don't feel that these suit the theme I was going for (Cawdor are pretty medieval in attire, which suits the skaven I'll be converting just fine).

I was going to use them as Cities of Sigmar actually, mostly Freeguild, using one of those big freaking dragons as their leader (traditionally - at least these days - kobolds revere dragons). Cities lets you take one in four units as SCE, so the dragon would be a legit addition to the army. Oh, and maybe convert some dracoth riders using Seraphon bits into Dragonkin (half-dragon) Knights or something.

Covered it in my paint blog, but I'm going for a simple kitbash and creating a Chaos Siege Giant out of a giant model.

I've ordered a bunch of parts and will then start experimenting!

I would say that's more of a conversion than a kitbash - kitbashing is where you use parts from several different existing kits to create a new model - unless you're using bitz from existing kits as well as greenstuff.

Regardless, with @NIGHTBRINGER's K'daai Destroyer, your Chaos Siege Giant and my project-that-has-yet-to-be-revealed, it's high time we had another Golden Serpent contest - would our glorious leader @The Red Devil agree?

A merry xmas to everyone. Hope Santa is generous to you all!
Here in Oz we've already had xmas day.
My lovely wife got me Dungeon Bowl, and the grandkids got me the new Khorne team and a few extra warcry Khorne models to fill out the team,
So tomorrow, Boxing day I will mostly be putting plastic toys together.

Behold, Rogue Trader era guardsmen.

Three in front are officers who need arms... Back right are old (OLD OLD OLD) plastic guardsmen, back left are metal.

Two on the front left... are Commissars, but... if you read the teeny tiny printing on the base-mount bar thingy, it says 'Chaplain'...
