What are you doing today hobbywise?

Gaaaagh!!!

Trying to get myself started on my second Fireborn unit painting.

Spent some time going through Storm of Magic and Monstrous Arcanum for 8th Edition.

As you've finished your first Fireborn unit, surely it'd be better to work on something else as a change?

As for me, recently I haven't done much in the way of Warhammer as I've been writing expansion rules for Ravenfeast, but yesterday I continued painting something beastly.

I, um... bought a Chimera... and not the tank kind...
Coincidentally, I was pre-gifted a chimera, and I say that because my buddy says I can have it but he has to dig it out of storage.

He also then gave me a squad of tactical (firstborn) marines and a 5 man space wolves reiver squad

Old beasts of chaos. Top row, left to right: Chaos warrior with flesh hound head, chaos warrior with dog head, bray-shaman (metal), Beastlord. Bottom row: original sculpt of Wilhelm Chaney (blood bowl) x 2, a beastman that is clearly based on the same sculpt frame, and a dog-head chaos marauder.

My wife said, "no, I would rather you not start a new army, why not just get something for an army you already have?," and I said "but I do have stuff for this army" and pulled these out... she was not amused, until I pointed out a unit of Tzaangor and a Tzaangor Shaman as well.

So my Chimera arrived today, some assembly required:

I also got some goats

and behind them, if you look closely, you will see some totes... so I can totes my goats.

Finished painting two Blood Bowl teams. My Necromantic Horrors team, and my friends Chaos Dwarf team. Printed off the roster sheets, and ready to play tomorrow.

Another Beastlord emerges to join the Lustrian Coven!

Do you intend to use your Warherd for Fantasy or AoS?

Ah, probably for AoS. I have a big box full of wolf riders and boar riders and chariots and stuff for WFB. Also some old Mordheim Marienburg minis I want to use as a Border Princes army... though ranked beastmen.. wait, beasts don't really rank up anymore, do they?

In 6th Edition Fantasy they had the Raiders rule that allowed them to skirmish while not suffering any of the drawbacks to skirmishing, which I'm bringing back in my own 8th ruleset, but if you want to use the last 'official' ruleset, the 7th Edition book, then they rank up as per the other races.

Played 2 games of Blood Bowl. The first game, I lost 2-0. The Slackjaws(Necromantic Horrors) kicked to the Buckin' Steers(Chaos Dwarves). We were playing chaos league, and Both teams chose Khorne as their god of choice.

Kublai the Expendable (Hobgoblin) eventually picked up the ball. Scary Ice (Ghoul) assisted by O.J Simpleton(Flesh Golem) knocked Kublai to the ground, and the ball right into the hands of a Bull Jackson (Centaur.) John Hellway (Werewolf) knocked Bull Jackson out of the game, giving him a niggling injury. John Hellway got knocked to the ground and knocked out for a turn, Scary Ice got hit into the crowd. O.J Stood up to Leeroy Jenkins (Minotaur) for the first hit but then got punched down on the next hit. Kublai stood up and picked up the ball. Worgen Freeman (Werewolf) was coming for him though. Worgen Freeman goes for the blitz, and immediately falls on his face, his armour broke and he was KOd. Kublai the Expendable gets up and picks up the ball. He dodges waves and manages to get a turn 8 touchdown.
The Slack jaws receive, Worgen Freeman gets the ball, and sets himself up a partial cage. A few good blocks, and tagging some key players, Freeman makes it through the Steers line. Going as fast as he can, he stumbles, luckily they have trained for this, and he stumbles on the other foot. 1 yard to touchdown Freeman falls down, drops the ball, and knocks himself out again.

Temur the Disposable(Hobgoblin) picks up the ball, throws it to Black Angus(Bull Centaur), he misses the mark, and improbably manages to get it to Kublai the Expendable. Kublai takes a few turns, but this hobgoblin is unstoppable, surviving several blocks, dodging and weaving for his second touchdown of the game. Slackjaws receive, but fail to get it to the endzone in time. Kublai and John Hellway are blessed by Khorne with extra strength. Kublai gets Block with all of his star player power.

Next game was absolutely chaos, by the end of the first half, 0 touchdowns, Steers were down 6 players, Slackjaws were down 3, with John Hellway dead. Worgen Freeman gets the touchdown. Leeroy Jenkins gets back in the game, and Die-On Sanders(Scarecrow Zombie) managed to kill Kublai the Expendable. Bye bye strength 4 blocking hobgoblin. Leeroy Jenkins gets the ball and starts blitzing down the field. O.J Simpleton manages to Halt him 6 from the goal. Worgen Freeman manages to get the ball, but won't be able to get that second touchdown. 1-0 for the Scream Bay Slackjaws. Series- 1 game apiece. One werewolf and one hobgoblin dead, one bull centaur with a niggling injury.

All in all, first game my aggressive playstyle cost me the game, second game it worked out slightly better for me. You probably shouldn't use both rushes for almost every movement you do, you also probably shouldn't go for 1 dice blocks for 80% of your blocks, but it improbably worked a lot of the time, and definitely made things more interesting.

I'm gonna be ashamed of myself for the rest of the day, after having played my first T'au game with the new codex...

Love the player names for this! :D
