Blog Warden's Other Paint Log

Great collection of painted plastics! ;)
Nice numbers to have finished in a year's time.

Grrr, !mrahil

Thanks all!

Starting off the new year I completed two Bashi Bazouks from Infinity:

warden20230129_infinity_haqqislam bashi bazouks 1.jpg

They are pretty neat models, some of the first I purchased for infinity but it has taken me some time to finally get them painted. The pictures didn't turn out very well lit, so when I get a chance to add rocks/grass tufts to the bases I will try again.

Neat little models, in the lore they are pirate/paratroopers who work for plunder. Neat stuff, I hope to make two more of these shortly.

The last models I painted in January were these four pilgrims from Jedha, as seen in the background in Rogue One.

They are 3D prints from a seller on Etsy, nice sculpts and I enjoyed painting the robes. They were nearly complete in December but I never got around to finishing them until now. I think I will do more with the bases later though, they look too wet to be a desert in pictures.

Also my 3-year-old was very excited that I was taking this picture, and insisted I take another picture with the otter she was holding.

Wait you mean this wasn't the original???:D

Work continues, and I have gotten some good progress on two fantastic Hackers:

The lady with the gun over her shoulder is one of my favorite models for infinity I have started painting so far... she was an early purchase too so I am glad I finally am getting her started.

Some newly assembled Infinity and Necromunda models!

warden20230201_infinity and necromunda assembly 1.jpg

Got the last three members of my Palanite gang for Necromunda all complete, including the big boss-sheriff (my take on a phenominal conversion I saw on the internet) and two more Enforcers. One will be a medic, and the other will be a hacker/scout, both to be used as such in Stargrave.

warden20230201_infinity and necromunda assembly 2.jpg

In order to make these few conversions work I had to source the extra bits along with some selective casting of a few parts I needed more of, such as the body-core of the Enforcers, and some infinity helmets/wings.

These next two will be Bashi Bazouks. The one on the right is just a Yuan Yuan but I will paint her just like my last two bashis, and the one on the right is a Reverend Moira model from the Bakunin Nomads range that I won't have a use for otherwise. The 3D printed gun is sourced from shapeways.

warden20230201_infinity and necromunda assembly 3.jpg

I also assembled some Druze Security forces!

warden20230201_infinity and necromunda assembly 4.jpg

The available infinity Druze Shock Teams box set is severely lacking in terms of actual helmets or other options for that matter, so I cast the two helmets that do come in the box and did some replacements. Also went ahead and gave the hacker a Panzerfaust.

I also cast a few extra helmets and gave them to my Nahab Aeromobile team. These models are nice enough but I really did not like the "tiaras" the original heads had.

warden20230201_infinity and necromunda assembly 6.jpg

And lastly on the converting desk was Armand le Muet, a mysterious Tohaa-turned-traitor but suspected double-double-agent. I did not like the rockstar pose of the original mini, and was inspired by another conversion I saw online to do something about it. Wish I could have made him aiming the weapon but that would have taken too much work.

Interesting kitbashes. Looking forward to see results.

Druze Hacker complete:

warden20230220_infinity druze hacker 01.jpg

I love this model and how it turned out.

Color scheme was heavily inspired by the tactics and hobby website goonhammer. I hope to do a similar color scheme for the rest of the Druze infinity minis I have on the work table next, except going a bit more orange than straight red.

I love how this model turned out; it is just so cool. One of the best looking miniatures in the entire Infinity range in my opinion... though I can't imagine combat is going to be easy in those heels . Then again, if that one lady on Jurassic World could outrun a T-Rex holding a flare in the rain then I am sure anything is possible :D.

Druze Hacker looks amazing!

Thanks!

Her compadre Laxmee is also finished:

warden20230220_infinity laxmee 01.jpg

Laxmee is an Infinity named character, Massai (Kenya/Tanzania) in origin, who seems to understand hacking at an intuitive level. She is a mercenery, and since she also appears to be wearing the same armor as the Druze I painted her up in a similiar way. Not the most happy with how her skin turned out, I need more practice painting female faces and to take it slower next time.

I was planning to go over these two models with a coat of spray matte varnish, because normally I just paint on the matte varnish with a brush. For some reason however it still comes out glossy?

Then again, I have noticed that some of my previous models that I painted this way do not seem so glossy anymore... maybe it is a case of the matte varnish isn't totally dry yet? Not sure if anyone else has this problem. I would spray the models with matte varnish but the idea of the models "fogging up" terrifies me, plus I do not have a good place to spray at the moment.

Thanks!

Not sure if brand of varnish is important, but my vallejo satin that I use on brush dries in minutes, but cures for about day or two. It is shiny first day.

You can always brush on some matt varnish if you dont have an airbrush. I used to varnish with a brush all the time before I got my airbrush last year.

That is interesting. I have some vallejo matte varnish, that is what I used for these last two. I will see how they look in another week, see if there is a difference.

Working on four Naffatun troopers next, wielding flamethrowers.

Finished all four Naffatun/flamethrower troopers for Haqqislam in the final two days of February this year:

warden20230227_infinity naffatun 02.jpg

I was sceptical but now pleasantly surprised in how much I enjoy this color scheme.

Heavy flamethrower troopers:
warden20230227_infinity naffatun 03.jpg

Light Flamethrower troopers/possible LTs:

warden20230227_infinity naffatun 06.jpg

The redhead reminds me of watching the SIMS4 playthroughs of James Turner/Sims Supply on Youtube from a while back. I have decided to name her "Katrina," therefore the only way to say her name is to shout KATRINAAA! every time she pops into frame.

Now that I have a few more yellow-helmeted troopers my Muhktar hacker doesn't stand out as weird looking anymore:

warden20230227_infinity naffatun and friends 1.jpg

Paint scheme for these guys (aside from the helmets and green flame-proof vests) was based on the basic Ghulam infantry troopers:

Big happy family pic of the Naffatuns and their reference minis:

Great minis. You are right with the paintscheme, it is very pleasant to look at.
