Blog Warden's Other Paint Log

Finished the contents of the Haqqislam Support Pack:

warden20230309_infinity doctor engineer and nasmats 01.jpg

The Ghulam Doctor turned out great, I had fun working up from purple to pink hair:

warden20230309_infinity doctor 01.jpg
For some reason I still hear the tokyo drift song in my head whenever I look at this mini  please make it stop :hungover:

Doctor supporting her fellow troopers:

With her nasmat remote helper:

And here she is with my other Doctor Rouhani:

The Najjarun Engineer:

You can see the work I did on his workpad (his iPad as my daughter calls it):

The engineer supporting some other Haqqislamite remotes:

warden20230309_infinity engineer 05.jpg

Engineer with his assistant:

warden20230309_infinity engineer 06.jpg

Here are both the nasmat remotes, most factions in infinity have them, and these two were fun to paint!

warden20230309_infinity nasmats.jpg

...and a slight aside, I went ahead and bought a different bottle of matte varnish, and I am much happier with the results. Here the engineer is compared to my previously painted Naffatuns:

warden20230309_matte wash comparison.jpg

What is strange is that both are Vallejo Matte Varnish, but the one on the left is from a normal dropper bottle, and the one on the right (the glossier one) is the same kind but for the airbrush (as it says on the bottle). Weird how that made this much of a difference?

Got three more infinity minis complete: two winged Yuan Yuan drop troops and a Namurr super soldier!

warden20230316_infinity namurr and yuan yuans.jpg

This lady looks like she was inspired by Alite Battle Angel. I was not a fan of the official paint job, but I have a feeling it was just how it was photographed.

The Namurr next to my previously painted Khawarijj super soldier... who looks a bit weedy next to her!

Here are the pictures of the two drop-troopers I finished.

warden20230316_infinity yuan yuan 1.jpg

This first one is a Yuan Yuan mercenary straight out of the box, did my best to give her a cool hair-color transition.

The second Yuan Yuan looks a lot more like my previously painted Bashi Bazouks because of the hood. When I bought the box this mini came in I wasn't sure I would ever use it, but the hood made me decide to cast up the wings and make use of the mini this way.

Comparison of the original model to my conversion.

warden20230316_infinity yuan yuan 8.jpg

She has a new 3D printed gun and some wings I cast up.

Need more practice thinning out the paints for her face

All the Yuan Yuan and Bashi Bazouks together!

Loving the group shot!

The background also makes for a thematic view!

Puts my photography to shame!

Thanks, it is pretty low-effort. I printed out a backdrop of Night City from Cyberpunk 2077 and taped it to the wall, and photograph the minis standing on a piece of cardboard terrain that came in the infinity box set I purchased. I should probably use more than one light to fully illuminate the minis, and a better camera instead of an iPhone, but then the low-quality paint jobs would be even more apparent :bag:

Druze Shock Team is now finished!

warden20230320_infinity druze shock team 16.jpg

In my opinion these are some of the coolest models in the infinity range, probably because of the helmets.

warden20230320_infinity druze shock team 04.jpg
warden20230320_infinity druze shock team 05.jpg

Despite the kit coming with only two of the really cool helmets on the minis (the third being a hacker, and the fourth in a lifting-up-my-helmet pose) I decided to cast the helmets to give the other two some extra protection.

Panzerfaust Druze:

warden20230320_infinity druze shock team 07.jpg
Also gave this guy a backpack because I butchered his back during the conversion. Same thing happened to his neck so I gave him a scarf :D

warden20230320_infinity druze shock team 08.jpg

Fourth team member has her HMG (Heavy Machine Gun) at the ready, and with her new helmet I think she looks a lot more menacing than the original model:

Super happy how these guys and gals look now that they are finished. I will heavily consider getting a second box so I can convert up some more weapons options, as per the game they are also allowed to bring a sniper rifle and an EMP grenade launcher to the battlefield. Hope you like how they turned out!

These look sooo good. The red gives a great contrast.
Those helmets are awesome!

Grrr, !mrahil

Nice work!
Interesting feet. What kind of miniature/creature is this?

Grrr, !mrahil

Thanks, the miniature is Bran do Castro from the Infinity Corvus Belli range, Nomads faction. He is basically the monkey king in a cyberpunk setting, but when I saw the miniature, I immediately envisioned him in this color scheme.

Now he is Nightcrawler from the X-Men!

warden20230412_infinity_nightcrawler nomads 1.jpg

Only conversion I did to the original mini was a tiny triangle on the tip of his tail.

My two favorite X-Men are now painted up!

Love it! Those were two of my favorite X-Men from back in the day as well (along with many, I imagine).

I enjoyed finishing these three Nahab troopers yesterday:

warden20230418_infinity nahab 01.jpg
warden20230418_infinity nahab 02.jpg

They originally had tiara-looking things on there heads so I swapped that out for some cool Druze security helmets instead.

The whole bunch together:

warden20230418_infinity nahab 03.jpg

The newest three are very dynamic, though the female trooper looks like she is tripping over her knees a bit.

Finished my Lions Sable Dreadnought!

warden20230428_deathwatch lions sable 01.jpg

Chapter symbol is the custom transfer I made, super happy with how it looks.

Ancient Harun Abbas is from the lost Lions Sable chapter, second-founding descendants of the Dark Angels who have been mysteriously deleted from all Imperium records to hide a forgotten shame...

His banner is done too! The banner, along with his weapons, are magnetized.

warden20230428_deathwatch lions sable 10.jpg
warden20230428_deathwatch lions sable 11.jpg

I originally had the idea this would be a Medieval, Middle-Eastern styled Dark Angels successor, with a culture heavily influenced by the crusades and the era of Saladin in the 3rd Crusade. But now that he is finished I am getting much more Spanish Reconquista and El Cid vibes.

His name Harun Abbas is made up of two Arabic words I found that both mean Lion, just with different connotations.

Close up of the banner! That necron is having a bad day :hungover:
