AoS Thoughts on potential new codex for Seraphon 2020?

This is a chief ‘want’ for me. All the named models becoming generic was such an awful choice.

meh, I do hope thy'l introduce at least some non-hero named guys. It's kinda lame to only have slanns and noone else of importance.

Mwha, it was a decent move to get a whole bunch of generic leader options at once. Which gives some freedom when building your own armies & stories. The only issue is that they seem to have completly forgotten to replace them with any new named guys. So now there's several factions with 1 or only 2 heroes important enough to have a name, so a lot of factions don't seem to be very fleshed out yet. ​

that too.. makes you wonder what GW's wants to make a named hero. Does it always need to be a unique sculpt? Does it need to be a character from a book? or is it enough to take a standard hero sculpt, add a feather or a skull or some such to it and make up some nonsense name and call it a day. After all it shouldn't be too difficult to make up some nonsense and create a named captain, lord or mercenary with some basic fluff. But is that basic level good enough?
 
Honostly it shouldn't be to hard. Especially with the Ogor Mawtribes. Named characters are brought up in the book, and it's probably the easiest faction to make a named character. Just make them a tyrant, but bigger.
 
well yeah, but I can imagine making a seperate sculpt being a thing that's relativly costly. Or at least I'd assume that'd be the most costly part. Balance-wise they're already kept in check to a degree since you can only field 1 of them. And making up some unique rules can't be too difficult, especially if you err on the side of caution and just keep them a bit on the weak side.

But yeah, curious what exactly GW deems the minimum work needed to release a named character.
 
Most likely a named character will have an ability or two that makes them stand out from other models and units. The amount of difference is really variable from faction to faction
 
well you also have relativly simple stuff like Neave Blacktalon, it's a beatstick, with an anti-hero bonus & she gets some synergy with the paladors and such. The only properly unique bit about her is that she has a model. Rules-wise she's nothing special.
 
Well that's a big disappointment.


So based on that we are back to some time next year.


Hopefully we will have some rumor engines of new models so we get a bigger update.


Because if the release were supposed to be January we wouldn’t have gotten any new models.


I'm still hoping for new and bigger Saurus warriors.

At this point they must be saying: "They waited 3+ years already, what's another 6 months huh?" Then 6 months later.... Probably delayed again.

All i have to say is it better be worth the longest drought any faction had to endure in AoS

as true as this is AoS is a yong system 5 years is nothing in comparison to what the 40kers have gone threw
 
Just don't feel it's coming up soon given no possible pictures in the weekly rumor pic other than the tail (which was the seraphon-looking dino the chaos lord is riding?).
