I think the reason he is a former Hollywood executive is because even if you know the right thing to do, that doesn't mean you can do it.

Hollywood executives are the middlemen. They have to act as go-betweens for the directors, producers, story writers, and marketers among others and make all of these often adversarial groups think the exec is on their side an no one else's.

It is a good thing. It's not a very revolutionary good thing. I don't think they are sticking it to the CCP so much as realizing there was a larger than expected backlash from not-the-CCP to their editing out the Taiwanese flag in the initial trailer.

It's a step in the right direction I suppose.
