The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

The release date for the Amazon LOTR adaptation is September 2nd. Which apparently but this well reasoned video points out, was the day of Tolkien's death and was surely a deliberate choice.

It might have been intended to honor him, but it seems like Amazon is dancing on his grave.

It's possible The Rings of Power will actually be good. You never can be sure until you see the finished product, but I will say it will probably be terrible and I won't watch it unless several reviewers I trust say nice things about it.

For me that one and dr. Strange.
The latter mostly because
1 - I like the character and the actor
2 - Raimi
Have you watched it yet (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness)?

Yep. It's kinda a mixed bag. Some things were awful, plus various inconsistencies, but some things were also good and you can definitely see Raimi being Raimi.
Given the actual state of MCU, i probably should be happy with it.

How bad was that America Chavez character?

How much wokeness was in the film in comparison to other MCU films?

What if you thought the original Top Gun was just okay?

Though I kind of want to support the movie for not being woke but I missed my chance to watch The Northman.

Also, I've been so bombarded with ads for the new Maverick movie that it became annoying.

That's a bit tougher then. I guess it would depend on why you thought the original was okay. It's like trying to predict if someone will like The Empire Strikes back if they thought A New Hope was only okay. Or Godfather II if you thought the original Godfather was only okay. Etc.

This film respects the first film and pays homage to it. It develops the story and characters in logical and satisfying ways. It has really top notch and exciting action scenes. It pulls on the emotional heartstrings. It is not woke.

It's a great film, but I wouldn't guarantee that you'll love it if you thought the first was only okay. Up to you if you want to roll the dice on it. At worst, its still a pretty cool action flick.

Yep, i wasn't in love with the original Top Gun, but it was a pretty good action movie and definitely iconic. With a great soundtrack.

I should also add, if someone is on the fence, Maverick is the type of movie that really benefits from the theater experience. The superior size and sound really makes you feel the power of the aircraft. Consequently, I'd recommend against the "I'll watch it when it comes to video/streaming" approach. That's just my opinion though.

Your opinion is correct. ;)
