Blog The Jade Host: Mayan Lizardmen

Thanks again all!

A very large-scale work! Arouses respect. especially interesting alternative models.

I am enjoying painting alternate models. I have plenty of skinks and saurus, and have most of the Lizardmen models I have wanted to purchase and paint, so now I get to try out some new stuff and branch out a bit.

It's with a heavy heart that I finally have to say goodbye to my jungle fortress :sorry:

warden20201125_jungle fortress.jpg

It has been sitting on my game table for the past month, and due to me potentially moving again within the next year I know it will undoubtedly fall apart again, as it has the last three moves it has taken part in. To be honest it is barely holding together right now with a skeleton of tooth picks and many layers of glue :joyful:

The fortress was my first terrain project ever (originally assembled in 2001-2002 :dummy:) and is displayed in the background of the very first page of this thread (back when it was still unpainted ). I have learned a lot since then, and hope to remake it more durably and more well-painted in the future!

Always sad to depart from your own creations.
Does it get a new owner or will it just face the bin?

Hopefully we will see a new castle in the near future ;)

Grrr, Imrahil

The bin I am afraid. No local homes for it to move into, and transport is frankly out of the question because it would just fall apart again :(

This chameleon hero represents the extent to which I painted for the month of January. Plan is to paint a transition from a bright green head to a purple tail, with light blue in the middle.

Hope I can finish him this month!
Did you print it yourself or purchase? What do you think about the Lost Kingdom minis?

I thought it was a Lost Kingdom mini, but I could be wrong

Yes he is a Lost Kingdom miniature (Kuaxotl Lord), looks fantastic as a chameleon skink hero. Much better than the GW models for chameleon skinks I think. He is good quality, purchased from a printer/seller on etsy, and made of a slightly opaque resin. Casting quality was good, though the main arrow in the front of the mini is a little soft.

I also purchased the Lost Kingdom not-Saurus lord on a dilophosaurus (the dinosaur with the neck frill that shot poison in Jurassic Park), also from etsy. The dinosaur himself turned out great, really good skin detail, but his teeth didn't print very well and most are broken off. Hard to see though so I don't mind that as much. I was not happy with how the rider's face turned out though, and don't know if I can fix it with just paint. When I get around to painting it I will let you know. Also the rider's spear came out all floppy so I just cut it off and swapped it with some parts on hand.

Great looking mini! I have "Paint 20 Cham. Skinks" on my 2021 to-do list too. Maybe I'll pick one up for myself!

A truly impressive host. I love your use of blacklining and hashing. Highly stylized and unique. It looks marvelous all together.

Love the chameleon skinks... I do hope GW decides to remake them someday.

Thank you very much Lord Wizard of the Lizards, I logged on to almost 300 additional likes. Glad you liked the projects I have been working on!

Finishing up these six blood bowl minis my brother gave me that he had extra today:

Currently they are resting up against paint jars so they can dry onto their base straight.
Also finished up these four cannons for other projects alongside them today:

And my favorite of the bunch, the chameleon skink:

I have to say it was very satisfying to flock their bases and paint the little white lines, didn't think I would enjoy that so much! I may have to go get that spooky/pumpkin head blood bowl team next and return the swap favor with my brother!

Also side note, I didn't see a thread for Blood Bowl teams in the Itza Gallery of Fine Arts... so sad :(. Anyone know who can add more?

I like these a lot. The black skin with skeletons painted on is a very good warpaint.
