Blog The Jade Host: Mayan Lizardmen

So these pictures are suuuuper late, but they showcase my jungle terrain really well. Back in December played two quick games of Mordheim with my brother. Savage orcs versus skeletons over the jungle ruins, with a healthy application of all those encounters I have been working on.

Chaos quickly ensued, to include various large beasties appearing, to include the orcs being chased by a carnosaur…

...and during the second game about half the board caught fire!

I don't remember 100% of what happened during these battles since they were so long ago, but it was a small treasure trove of nice terrain pictures so I will do my best to post them up.

Real nice terrain! That’s one thing I’ve never done and always wanted!

Looks awesome altogether like that, I've always loved your terrain building. Nice to see it all in action.

Nice Stuff, powerfull looking models!

Gr, Imharil

I like those spiders a lot.
Now if I could only paint some more. Such a huge backlog...

Game tiles!

Loving this pink insulation foam, it works great. Using it to make some wargame tiles for my table. My brother made me the ten individual wooden squares and gave them a basecoat, I will be assembling and painting them.

Eight of the squares have hills built into the side (they don't line up perfectly but close enough) and are about 2 inches high. Good for Mordheim matches. The other two squares will be flat to leave space for good old fashioned Warhammer games.

Glued a minimal amount of sand on already (they dried last night) then I got to paint everything black, then brown, then shades of brown and green. Goal is something similar to an interchangeable board I saw in a game store locally, except all the little pieces will be interchangeable (like all the terrain I have done so far).

Nice work!
Love your terrainbuildingskills.

what size are the tiles?

Gr, imrahil

Thanks! Nice and cheap Mayan/Lizardmen wargame terrain.

what size are the tiles?

Gr, imrahil

Each tile is just under a two foot square (about 22 inches on each side). My game table has just short of a 4x6 feet playing space on it, so six of these tiles will fit perfectly inside at a time.

First coat of black is done, will be a few days before I can start the brown.

All amazing stuff as usual, I especially like those raptor models, look like decent cold ones unless the size isn't quite right?

Thanks! They are slightly bigger (32mm scale I think), when they are done I will post some size comparison shots.

Forgot to post this mood shot of the spiders before:

Those temple guard were not prepared to have the intruding wight-king be backed up by jungle spiders!

Too hot outside to work in the garage today, so instead I am continuing to paint up an old terrain project I started back in November:

The little orange foam bits are future pieces of driftwood, having been stuck on the banks of the jungle rivers

The big board is on hold indefinitely (mostly because it gets hot in that garage in the summer), but canal project part 2 is nearing completion.

Making some tiny rock "bridges," more like stepping stones. I got this idea, specifically the one with the face/glyphs, from a terrain project @n810 had in the depths of his epic army blog.

So… many... lilly pads!!

Also working the samurai board project along with these canals (will update this other project in my other paint blog).
