Ahsoka, Rex, Obi-wan, Chewie and R2 for me!

I'm surprised that stupid Ahsoka is a $5 character, she's not nearly as powerful as Obi-Wan, Yoda or Mace were in their prime. Also, Jango should have taken priority over Boba, because Jango did so much more in the film he was in.

As for the question, I'd say Obi-Wan, Yoda, Mace, Rex and K2. K2 is the most useful of the Droids because he's actually decent in a fight as well as being familiar with mechanical systems.

Depends greatly on what the objective. Is the objective to have an enjoyable cruise? Is the objective to make things in the Star Wars galaxy better? Is the objective to survive a lot of dangerous things?

Cannn breaking, if you keep Anakin and Padme together Darth Vader will not back Palpatine. Sadly we are one dollar short from buying Anakin, Padme, Luke, and Leia. Luke can stick with Obi Wan on Tatoonine as a backup plan. Then we can take Mace or Yoda to king Anakin on the straight and narrow or take Padme twice (decoy hand maidens), so we have a Padme to spare.

If the goal is just to survive, I'll take Rey and stay in the friend zone with her. That's a good way to stay alive. It worked for Po and Finn. Rey is invincible and can bring back the dead. It really doesn't matter who else you pick if you have Wonderray.

For a fun cruise, I would just travel with Padme and five hand maidens who look exactly like her plus a droid to handle grunt work on the flight.

Agree that it depends greatly on what you want.
I will go for versatility and non-evil behaviour on an exploration voyage

Rey (tempted to take Luke, but... meh. Not his biggest fan either)
Obi-Wan, because wise and mighty
Yoda, much might and wisdom
C3P0 because of his language skills
Either BB8 or R2D2 because of the mechanical skills.

To give a clearer brief, you are a character on a new Star Wars tv show in which you fly around in a Millennium Falcon equivalent and go on adventures and such. Who do you pick as your crewmates (bearing in mind likability and usefulness)?

If we could say bring back the old Star Wars expanded universe. I would start with Luke. Mara Jade is not on the list but she has Leia's skill set. Throw her in the $4 spot.

I wouldn't want to separate Han and Chewie but I would not be opposed to a new character with the loveable scoundrel archetype that is equivalent to Han. Actually Jana Solo is pretty close to Han in personality. You need someone that is not a Force user so we'll put the $2 slot with Finn, an ex-Stormtrooper trying to put his life back together and actually explore those story telling possibilities.

And because it's Luke, you got to have R2. That would be a show I'd watch.

If i'm not allowed to make substitutions. Ashoka, Darth Maul, Mr. Self Destruct, Finn, and generic astromech droid would be a good character dynamic. Assuming we can justify this odd assortment of characters. Either Ashoka is going Dark, Darth Maul is redeeming himself or they have to put aside their rivalry against a greater threat. I think Maul, and Ashoka would have interesting intra-party conflicts.

In the real Star Wars (non-Disney) universe:
  • Yoda
  • Obi-Wan
  • Han
  • Lando
  • R2-D2
  • C-3PO
In the Disney Star Wars universe:
  • Rey (all others are obsolete, she can fulfill all of their roles to a much higher [perfect] standard)

So why does Kylo cost $5, when Yoda, Mace and Obi-Wan only cost $4 each?? o_O

There are lots of Klingon characters, but Gowron is the only one I recall that always has crazy eyes.

On an unrelated note. On Rotten Tomatoes, critics and audiences rarely agree but when they agree they tend to agree that something is very bad. In this case, it seems near unanimous that the Artemis Fowl movie is crap. Even the supposedly "positive" reviews say things like "it's okay" and other lackluster praise.

I think it's clear that Star Wars is not an anomaly. Disney is not capable of using purchased IP to tell good stories.
