If you never read any of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, the Empire is clearly the good guys.

Maybe that's a European phenomena. I don't see the same trend where I live and I most definitely don't see Monty Python coming close to Star Wars on this forum. Though the later might be due to me. :p

Star Wars as a whole, sure. But one Star Wars movie?
In Star Wars the quotes are all over the place. Which one would you pick? I'd probably go for ANH.

As for the regional phenomena: sure. The most quoted movie probably is some Chinese one that neither of us has ever heard of. :D

But similarly, aren't there more than one Monty Python movies? (I've never actually watched one)

It might come down to what context we're talking about... regular quotes or memes. When it comes to memes, the Prequels reign supreme. Maybe ROTS.

Fair enough. :p

I'll be the heretic and say that the most quotable one (by number of quotes from a single movie) probably isn't one of the Star Wars movies but a Monty Python movie. I have witnessed hours over hours of people throwing quotes of Holy Grail or Life of Brian at each other.
I would agree with you there. Don’t get me wrong, Star Wars has an awful lot of good quotes but ‘Tis but a scratch’ compared to Monty Python

But similarly, aren't there more than one Monty Python movies? (I've never actually watched one)
There are indeed. But there are two that have an insane number of quotes. I'd say Holy Grail has even more than Life of Brian. There are whole scenes that basically consists of hilarious (and often quoted) lines.

And yeah, Memes is a completely different story.

Edit: @ravagekitteh see what you did there! :D

And yet you try to call us heretics?! I think you should hereby be barred from continuing this discussion until you can quote at least one sketch from one of the two! :p

If you need something to get you started:

To be honest, I think the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog might have already got it. I mean LOOK AT THE BONES!!!

No match for the great monster from the Castle of Aargh - the Killer Rabbit was killed by a Holy Hand Grenade, while the only reason the heroes escaped the monster of Aargh alive was because the animator had a heart attack before he could finish the project...

In all seriousness though, I agree that the title of ‘Most Quotable Film’ varies between countries. Monty Python and Wallace and Gromit are probably some of the most quotable things over here, but they are a lot less popular in other locations.

However, I think I do agree with @NIGHTBRINGER that Revenge of the Sith is probably the most quotable of the Star Wars films - have you seen how many iterations of ‘Hello There - General Kenobi’ appear on YouTube? And that’s just one - ‘I’ve been looking forward to this’, ‘Take a Seat’, ‘I am the Senate’, ‘you underestimate my power’... the list goes on.
