I still think (and hope) Snoke is Darth Plagueis. Sidious believed he wasn't able to save himself from dying... But what if he did without Sidious noticing? That could explain how he was so scarred in episode 7 - his midichlorians attempted to reconstruct him. He could have watched everything his former apprentice did and when Palpatine's Empire failed he had a little chuckle to himself about the mistakes Sidious made and intended to correct them by creating the First Order.
 
I kind of hope they don't. It sounds like too much of a fan-fictiony plot to me
 
I wish they would make one side story film that explains why Boba Fett is such a feared bounty hunter.
 
I saw some yt video lately that said Snoke might be Mace Windu who survived the fall and turned to the dark side. :D

I could see a movie like that... His dadgum equipment keeps winning it for him again, and again, and again. But! at the very end some nogoodniks, (IDK ? dogooders), take out the small moon where he had his factory. This happens right before episode 4.

And that is why is isn't particularly effective in 4-6 ...he is down to his one ship and his last few backpacks.

@Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl : this is why I don't consider Disney to be spineless if they go in another direction. What works for you, clearly does not work for others. Star Wars is a 4 billion dollar acquisition for Disney (and is probably worth a lot more now), they have bigger ambitions for the series than what you or I can imagine.

I'm not after what works for me - I'm after a storyline that is both original and links up with Episodes 1-6, and the Darth Plagueis idea would link it up nicely with not just Episodes 1-6 but also some stuff from the Expanded Universe, canon and non-canon. Rogue One, for example, linked up nicely with Episodes 3 and 4, and I secretly hope that they would try to provide a nice link again in 8 with Snoke, but they probably have an unoriginal idea. Although do you think that a possibility could be that Snoke is Rey's dad?

My point was simply that just because Disney decides to go in another direction, it does not make them spineless. Perhaps they are not choosing to pursue the Snoke-Plagueis angle for reasons other than spinelessness. And the very next post made in reaction to your "they are too spineless to have Snoke as Darth Plagueis" statement proves just that.

I think our difference comes down to what we expect from the next film. You seem to have very specific ideas you want them to implement, whereas I am eagerly awaiting to experience the journey they choose to take me on. Note that I am not stating that one expectation is better or worse than the other... only different.

But Disney will probably do something like that - this is what I'm trying to point out, that the Sequel trilogy is at the moment a victim of unoriginal plot sequences because Disney isn't brave enough to do an original idea - that's why I was saying that they were too spineless to have Snoke as Plagueis.

True, but it is a separate independent story, whereas your precious Last Jedi is following on from a cliche-ridden 7 and already has some of its own cliche elements in its trailer. If it wasn't for those four-legged AT-AT remakes and those snowspeeder repeats I would be as excited as you are about it. Certainly the elements that are more original do excite me, as I have explained before, like Kylo Ren zooming inside the hole in the New Republic warship and aiming his TIE's weapons straight at the bridge. At least with episode 8 Disney are brave enough to show these cliches in the trailer to show what to expect this time, rather than leaving the nasty surprises until you go to the pictures to see it like they did with 7.

It depends what they do with them. Those are the vehicles of the time, so it makes sense that they could appear repeatedly.
