Blog NIGHTBRINGER's Painting Blog - 1000 point (not so) year end Chaos Dwarfs challenge (78.2%)

I guess my paint blog wouldn't be complete without adding in some pictures of my "famous" top hat Slann. I painted this model as my wedding cake topper, while my wife painted a Wood Elf Spell singer.

Removed the glyphs from around his neck

Green stuff work: bow tie, top hat, fixed his lip which was damaged (I obtained him on ebay) and some work on the palanquin to make room for the added height of the top hat.

Hanging out in Cuba (we never got really got any decent pictures of the models)

On top of what was otherwise a very ordinary wedding cake (with a little bit of condensation, because they were in the fridge):

And one picture from the back. The palanquin would have benefited greatly with a little more contrast, especially the vines. Live and learn!

I really don't know why you are so complaining about the quality of your painting... all I've seen so far looks quite great and not like you'd have to strip the models to improve the look of them... you're really complaining on a high level.;)

Thank you for the compliment. Of course this blog represents a collection of my better stuff (outside of that horrendous paint job on that old Necron Destroyer). For the most part I am fairly pleased with this Slann other than a few things which I would like to improve on his palanquin.

I agree, everything I have seen from your models looks pretty good.
Thank you. You are too kind good sir. :)

I'd like to say that you are top quality in sculpting sir, but that would necessitate a challenge between you and rikard
Rikard is absolutely unmatched in the realm of green stuff work. He could have both arms amputated and his work would still put mine to shame. On sculpting scale from 1 to 10, with Rikard being a 10, I would sit at about 1.5 (maybe less).

I do thank you though for the vote of confidence.

The slann, the myth, the legend. :vulcan:

I mainly based that around the fact that you resculpted the lip perfectly and created an intensely smooth top hat.

Well thank you. The lip was actually pretty easy, BUT I suffered a great deal creating that damn hat! (especially the rim of the hat and getting it to sit just right on the Slann's head)

Why did you not just file the top of the head down flat?

Time for an update. I've had a set of 10 old metal Chaos Warhounds that I started painting YEARS ago. I finally decided to try to finish them. I've finished the first one, with four more that nearly complete. The remaining 5 need a little bit more work.

Here is the first of their group...
