Agreed - that and free Spears just means that Saurus Warriors have no reason to take hand weapons anymore.
I'd also like to chime in with some points regarding Saurus and Predatory Fighter - Saurus are midlevel combat infantry. That means that most of the time, they will be fighting foes they easily outmatch but are outnumbered by (Goblins, Skavenslaves), or foes that beat them, but are outnumbered (Chaos Warriors, White Lions). This means that in either case, your opponent is testing on Steadfast Ld, or you are testing on Steadfast Ld, and thus the downside of Predatory Fighter is irrelevant. In the case that you do have to pursue, it essentially means you got lucky in combat, in which case you WANT to pursue (in order to capitalize on your good fortune). I think people are making a mountain out of a molehill on that front.
What I do share in complaints, though, is that playstyles for this book seem a tad narrow. Not that many units strike me as slam-dunk choices.
