8th Ed. New Lizardman army book and info

For PF if the wording is what was posted on warseer where it says that "Whenever a model with this special rule rolls a 6 to hit in close combat, it immediately makes another attack; roll to hit and to wound as normal" leads me to believe that it is all models including those in the second rank. Since it does not say models in base contact with an enemy or models in the first rank, I don't see why this can't be used for supporting attacks as well, since the big rule book does say army specific "advanced" rules overrule the "basic" rules of the big rule book.

the rulebook doesnt really leave much up to interpritation though.

"To represent this, he can only ever make a single Attack, regardless of the number of Attacks on his profile, or any bonus Attacks he might otherwise be entitled to because of special rules or other unusual effects".

I am 99% sure you still get to roll for spells as normal. In addition to having all the signatures.
Have to wait for the exact wording in the book ofc. But if there is nothing in the line of "instead of rolling for spells as normal" or something simular id say yes.

imagine lore of life with loremaster of high magic if thats true thats epic!! And i wont even be mad that we dont have any extras for castings to get

Yeah if you look only to that yes, but theres also a rule that states AB>BRB and in our AB theres a special rule that says you get extra atack so yes you get it even from second rank because it says that

I don't think it works like that.. I think we can choose to have loremastery IF we choose High magic for our lore.. I doubt that we can have that kind of luxury

I'm thinking what lore would be most useful with all the 8 signature spells Fireball is all we need from Fire, Wildform from Beast, Searing doom from metal and Iceshard Blizzard from Heavens. That leaves us with Life, Light, Shadow and Death. Death would be very tempting now that slanns can channel direct damages through skink priests plus all the wounds done with death magic has a chance to give us more power dice!

i only can see everywhere that that dicipline gives loremaster high magic not istead not if you have that lore but just plain loremaster so that should mean we get to generate.
But its really allmost the same as having all signatures and still generating i dont think it should be any diferrent

its not confirmed i think it wont be like that when we have the book but right now nobody says anything about words like instead of generating normaly or something else. if the dicipline says that you get loremaster (high magic) that means that you indeedcan generate because loremaster is just a special rule.

Temple Guard who might be concerned about exposing the Slann under their charge? Nope. Gotta have that Skink.

So its a special rule where we only see the benefit on a 1/6, and most likely only in the front rank, but the penalty is always on. Because Saurus were so uber, right? I'm sure glad that they have so many disadvantages now, really makes them balanced just like Chaos Warriors! Oh, wait.

I am this close to simply taking the models I ordered, converting them and then sticking them on ebay to get a bit of extra cash in, retiring my Lizardmen once again for another edition.

Just thought of something..By having slann with +2 channeling dice, 2 skink priests and troglodon oracle with the rod upgrade, we can channel with 6 dice! That's a good chance to get a single or even more 6, and with channeling staff it gets easier then you have a strong spellcaster that has 3 skinks where he can channel mm and dd from

Eh I don't think that the whole predatory fighter (frenzy bating) is to big a deal I mean honestly other armies cope with it. With the cheap prices of skink characters it won't be hard to not have one around personally I'm gonna love having that lvl 2 with beasts close to my Saurus blocks for wissans so it's not to worrisome though I agree that it is annoying to see what the fluff describes as bred perfectly for combat warriors become a bunch of slavering beasts in an instant..........

Plus other things, not just for the channel. 600 points alone to get one dice per magic face is outrageous! But remember, you get two scroll caddys, slann can also channel magic missiles and direct damage spells through them, get 2x wildform or 2x iceshard blizzard or both once. Also they are the needed skink characters that prevents saurus from auto-pursuing enemies. And there's a chance you get no extra dice, but then you may get 2 or 3 or with good luck even more!

I don't like that everyone is so negative. There's a lot of bad here I see, but I rather think ways to make our army work. It's easy to moan, but right now we need to find our way to make the new army work. Everyone has done it before us, why can't we.

Sorry to so straight, but that's how I feel. I just hope everyone would put their energy on something else than crying that we had a large nerfbat. The book is printed and out there, nothing can be changed, so we just need to adjust our minds to find the best uses with what we got.

well said. I admit that I lost to nerd rage over the salamanders the other day but they are not so bad.

This release has been very up and down. awesome new models then oh no there monsters then there is cool rules PF etc and now its saurus have to pursue.

to be honest with everyone about PF. If a saurus unit does not completely destroy a unit surly its worth chasing them down? people are worried about cheap little redirectors making us chase them but to be honest we should be wiping them out in one round of combat. Anything bigger then its good points to catch

Anyone seen the fluff yet? I'm worried about these changes - the big monsters, swarm-spawning, and needing another creature close to avoid losing control of your troops all sounds suspiciously tyranid-like. Plus it sounds like they're focusing more on the predatory side of things. Don't get me wrong I don't mind tyranids, but if I wanted to collect them I would have just expanded my 40k army. I want to play lizardmen as lizardmen, skink characters with synapse is a bad sign indeed.

Thats a good point, I hadn't actually thought about that. Rolling separately for front row and then supporting attacks will be a pain in the a$$, surely they won't do that to us. I would hope because it's really only giving us an extra 2-3 attacks in most situations that it would be allowed on supporting attacks.

the rule about only 1 supporting attack is in the main rule book which also states thats if a rule in an army book would change a rule in the main book that the army book wins

thus PF is an army rule thus it overrules main book its crystal clear imo
