Blog Lord Marcus' 2026 Blog

Those five horse archers are essentially done. The champion needs his shield attached and then they need to be based. I will get a photo tomorrow.

Stay was hectic. I had a massive pre-order finally arrive today so I had to ship out 12 plus packages. In addition to that, I did some personal decluttering, and built a couple of miniatures. One of which is this 54 mm Roman aquilifer.

He was meant for the latest feathered serpent challenge, but did not come in in time.

Oh well.

On the plus side, my new chain mail came in. Now I have period correct armor for my medieval persona.

I'm hoping to get more done tomorrows since it will be Saturday and thus a day off.

Why are pai ting in frame out of curiosity?
Because with the 100 years war frames from WarGames Atlantic, that is actually a possibility. If you look carefully, the flow joinery is all placed in places that can be clipped and clipped from the frame itself so that you have each element only suspended by its flow joins under the inbuild base. The exception to this is the casualty figures.

I just wanted to try it out.

Skeleton horse archers have basing material drying.

5 skeleton swordsmen base coated.

The Limitanei that have been sitting finished on my desk for the last couple of weeks have had basing started.

8 more limitanei at 3/7 stages.

More knights, from the English frame this time, base coated.

Afternoon update:

Skeletons have had their bases dry brushed and are done except for sticking on shields.

More late Romans have had basing, and in general adding basing acrylic paste has continued.

23 late Roman round shields have had the first layer of red applied. They need one more application and then I can finish them off with final details. Basically metallics and the white chiro device.

Another eight spearmen are on the desk ready to begin.

I've also started another frame of 10 mm medievals. I probably didn't need to do this but I wanted to try something and the colors are similar enough to the Romans where I can get away with using excess paint.

10mm archers and the 8 spearmen are done. Swordsmen need touch ups. Taking a break before diving back into them and basing some of the archers.
