Hello,
I wanted to make a small conversion chart to use your Lizardmen as Salamanders in KoW, just remeber that this is my personal choice of units, there are no rules here as long as the models represent the spirit of the unit, so here we go:
DIRECT EQUIVALENT:
Salamander Primes/Unblooded - Saurus Warriors
Ceremonial Guard - Saurus Warriors with Spears / Temple Guard
Ancients - Temple Guard / Saurus Warriors Painted to look like they are old
Kaisenor Lancers - Saurus Knights
Ghekkotah Warriors - Skinks (Javelins or Hand Weapons)
Ghekkotah Hunters - Skinks (blowpipes) / Chameleon Skinks
Ghekkotah Skyraiders - Terradon / Ripperdactyl Riders
Komodon - Slann Mage-Priest / Salamanders
Tyrants - Kroxigors (For the Horde I use 3 Kroxigors and 12 Skinks in classic formation)
Ember Sprites - Jungle Swarms
Ankylodon Battle Platform - Stegadon / Bastiladon
Lekelidon - Razordon
Fire Drake - Bastiladon / Carnosaur / Troglodon
Fire Elementals - Salamanders with handlers
Greater Fire Elemental - Slann Mage-Priest
Mage-Priest - Skink Priest / Saurus Conversion
Clan Lord on Fire Drake - Carnosaur / Troglodon
Clan Lord - Saurus Oldblood / Scar Veteran
Battle-Captain - Saurus Oldblood / Scar Veteran
Battle-Captain on Rhinosaur - Scar-Veteran/Oldblood on Carnosaur (Better the metal version)
Herald - Scar-Veteran/Oldblood with Battle Standard
Ghekkotah Clutch Warden - Skink Chief
Ghekkotah Skylord - Skink Chief on Terradon / Ripperdactyl
UNITS THAT REQUIRE SOME CONVERSION:
Corsairs - They are Saurus with Pistols (Saurus Pirates actually)
Ancients on Rhinosaur - They are Saurus on Dinosaurs bigger than the raptors but smaller than the Stegadon. They use 50x50 mm bases. You can just use a big unit of Saurus Knights though.
As you see a lot of units can represent more than one thing, that is because sadly Mantic decided to give the army a different look but the great thing is that as long as in the table there aren't two units that look the same are represent different things they don't mind what you put on the table. For example: you couldn't use two Slanns, one to represent a Komodon and one to represent a Greater Elemental.
Also, don't forget that you can use magic items to customize units, Terradons / Ripperdactyls are a good case in point, if you can use terradons to represent regular Skyriders and give the unit the Pipes of Terror (magic item that gives them the Brutal special rule) to represent Ripperdactyls, or don't, its your choice. Use your imagination to customize your own army and give it character.
Thanks for reading!
