7th Ed. lizardmen in 8ed, what do you think?

I'm running a unit of each, spears still have their place I think, as more attacks is always better. Blocks of 24 saurus work well with spears, while you can get away with only bringing 18 if your going hand weap & shield.

I think actually the gap between spears and hand weaps closed to equal, not more one way than the other, now that the parry doesn't add to armour its probably less useful, as a 6+ ward is pretty trivial whichever way you cut it.

the 6+ be comes more usefull VS higher Strength opponnents. I think I actualyl perfer the 6+ Ward to the +1 AS.

on the topic of new things.... salamander rock!!!!!! but not as much as mortars!

Ah, but mortars can't march and shoot, blow up occasionally, and don't burn through armor nearly as well; I still have to say the salamander is my choice

looking through the rules i may have missed it, but where does it say currently that thrown weapons (javelins) don't suffer from long range.

i found the rules for always able to stand and shoot and no penalty for moving.

I don't see it either, I think thrown weapons now have a long range penalty.

but if i understand the rules right, the very least if you give skinks javs you can march them 12 throw 12 and only suffer -1 for range

Thrown weapons do indeed have a long range penalty now. But the Javelins range was increased and it got Quick to Fire to compensate.

Actualy Javelins have their own descripion and rules in the weapons section now, instead of just
being lumped together with thrown weapons like before.

I´ve played a few times in the 8th and realize that lizards lost very much!!!

I don´t know you guys but i´ve was always sucessfull in the 7th with a list of small tatical units, now this kind of list seems impossible!

But, I still like the Saurus with spears, but on units with 20 - 25 minis, with a frontage of 6 models...

I have not really played much Lizards in 8th ed, trying out a couple other army lists, but I think that MSU is still a playable army list. The list I am planning on taking involves MSU Saurus with a Lore of Light Slann and some extra stuff. In the two or three games I have played, I have used a MSU build, and I find that it works fine and I feel that the horde rule is somewhat overestimated. All in all, I think Lizards will do fine.

I've stop playing 8 years ago and I'm making a return to WHFB and choose the Lezardman!

I have a question about Errata. I tried to use the search option but didn't find the right information. It is said tto ignore the rule "Great reach" for the Kroxigors/Skinks regiment. Do this means that the Kroxigors needs to be in the first row now? Maybe I'd miss something!

No, it means that in 8th edition, you ignore the great reach rule in that Kroxigors do not reach over the skinks. But also in 8th, monstrous infantry (kroxigors) get all of their attacks in supporting attacks. This means that Kroxigors cannot be targeted in a unit with skinks!! This means that the unit of 40 skinks is a Kroxigor delivery unit! That is what makes the unit so awesome. If you haven't used a horde of skinks with kroxigors, you are missing out on a very fun unit to run.

My unit of 40 skinks and 4 kroxigors killed 5 Silver helms while I lost only 6 models. The Silverhelms then broke and ran off the table.

They get a MAX of 3 supporting attacks per model. Which in any case is what the kroxigors have.

Yes but there are spells etc... that increase the number of attacks, so you shouldn't say MI get all of their supporting attacks when its capped at 3. And granted I should have specified 3 attacks per model, but I thought is was somewhat of a given.

If you haven't used a horde of skinks with kroxigors, you are missing out on a very fun unit to run.

you cant make skrox horde the third rank will just be skinks
so horde does not help at least not much why? because of the spawn kin
of course there is the 5 krox but what does the unit cost? 772 toooo much far to much

The biggest skrox horde that I have taken was a unit of 56 skinks and 4 kroxigors. It was an ungodly expensive unit (56 skinks, full command with 4 krox is about 510 pts), but you should see the look on your opponent's face when you put that on the table. The point to making the skrox unit a horde is that in order to take out the kroxigors, there are (in the example above) 56 meat shields protecting the kroxigors from any damage. Add to that the fact that the unit causes fear and is stubborn.

It is really fun.
