AoS Let's talk about nerfs and buffs from 3.0

Well he says starpriest but goes on to describe the abilities of a Skink priest so just a typo or mistake. What interests me is it makes it sound like his staff ability will not become a prayer, meaning he'll be able to use it in addition to using a generic prayer which is very good. People are going to complain so much! :p

I'd like to see the EotG pick up the priest keyword, since there is officially a priest on it. I feel it would be a good model to use curse from, as it is much safer to push forward into the battle lines.

Honestly, virtually all our skink heroes should be priests. It'd also do a lot to make some of the bad picks a lot better (e.g. troglodon priest opens up options if he gets good prayers)

The accompanying illustration is also of a Starpriest, but I'm sure that was just the layout person reading the text, seeing Starpriest, and dropping in something from the in-house image catalog. Yes, it's a bit embarrassing. I've made the same mistake myself many times, but of course, I'm not a designer for the company, lol.

EotG and/or trog picking up the priest keyword would be a big buff. The engine is already looking solid since it's points were basically unchanged, and gaining priest on the trog would explain the 50 point increase. Both would be great to utilize curse as they can play forward much more effectively than a foot priest

However, starpriest is a winner indeed. You can't go wrong with this one.

Even if the Trog was a priest it still wouldn't be worth it's points.

Well, no..... but it would be 'usable' after the increase. It was barely usable at it's previous cost.... I hope it gets at LEAST the Priest Keyword.

I really don't understand why they think it's so powerful, unless the huge increase was specifically to try and prevent people from using it to help mitigate Kroak's spell range nerfs. They reduced the point cost twice in a row, only to completely undo that as soon as 3e came out...

Especially when it is mediocre to begin with with the pointcost before its unprecedented point increase

It kind of feels like both the Troglidon and Oldblood on Carnasaur had their points adjusted from their original price from the new tome, rather then from their decreased prices.

The oldblood though was one hell of a glass cannon. He's just letting his homie the scarvet have an edition to shine

To be honest the only way to validate it is if the troglodon is getting an extra buff specific to him somehow. And even then it'd probably still be too steep a point increase.

But you know, it'l probably turn out the playtesters kept using him in one super specific situation which was increadibly effective for some reason, so they increased his points ignoring that he's still terrible in every other situation or something silly like that.

So in the troglodons defense, he actually is seeing play in some winning lists of major tournaments. The honest wargamer has a YouTube channel which he talks about tournament reports and he always points out when their is a troglodon in a list.

So clearly at their current point value they are not as unplayable as people make them out to be. It is just such a hard unit to rate because the warscrolls is so bad but being able to project croaks powers is so strong.

Rob does talk about when there is an oddball unit in a list, or when something is used in a very specific way. Which the Trog is.

Outside of being a good platform for Kroak in 2.0, taking them both now nets you 700 points for one combo. And without something else going for it, it may not even be used then. Possibly? Sure. Is it amazing? No. Am I going to use mine and have it die to shooting or some inane tarpit unit? Probably, it always seems to happen.

We shall see how things pan out soon enough. I doubt there will be any further warscroll updates.
