Just for laughs...

I see there are a lot of memes about the Rings of Power series. I decided to give the show a fair shot and my rating after seeing the first episode was decent. Clearly diverges from Tolkien's lore since Amazon does not have the rights to the Silmarillion, so they have had to edit the lore alot based on only characters and lore mentioned in the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. So far the only major modern agenda is the clearly forced diversity in the cast and the (totally out of the blue and unexpected....) Elf/human love story (btw if it wasn't evident enough that was sarcasm). My biggest worrying point over the show was the Galadriel revenge arc they showed in the trailer but I was pleased to see that they keep the overall hopeful Good standing against the forced of Darkness theme very well. They do not portray Galadriel as a blood thirsty warrior or grief destroyed wreck but as a person determined to stop the forces of evil without sacrificing her goodness. I am not a fan of the warrior portrayal of Galadriel but I feel that they have at least done the best they can with this view on her. I personally am a fan of their different take on hobbits as it fills a piece of Tolkiens lore that he never really covered. Their way of filling it was to make them very much akin to classic mythological depictions of woodland elves, while also keeping they fundamental hobbit characteristics evident. Overall I'm very skeptical going forward but I am willing to keep watching for the time being and see where it goes. At best it's a Tolkien based fanfiction

If you want just to look at the coherency ot the whole LotR saga, just wait when it will not be Sauron in disguise the one that helps Celembrimor in forging the One Ring, but it will be Elrond. (at least, that's what it has been told me, i'm not watching it)

Fair enough.

So on a scale of "0" to "10", where 0 is the Rings of Power and 10 is the LOTR movie trilogy, what number would you assign to the Hobbit trilogy?

Sorry, but I would go somewhere around 5.5

I personally give it a 6. It would score higher (childhood nostalgia - the animated Hobbit by Rankin-Bass is a childhood favorite), but there's a lot of stuff in there that doesn't need to be.

...which, regardless, doesn't stop those movies from making me want to create a LOTR force themed around Dale or Erebor...

Personally I'd give it about a 4, but not to worry....
