A wise man once said.

One day some French chefs were walking down the sidewalk and saw a snail and one said "I bet if we called this 'escargot', tourists would eat it."

And then they had a hardy laugh, because "Escargot" is French for "fat crawling bag of phlegm"

funnily, we usually don't eat snail as french do (picking them from their shell with a small fork): we tend to use them to enrich a sauce. They have more or less the same look as mussels (with no shell)
