The second scenario of last game night
The Battle Between Men - part 12
The Minas Tirith company has been driven back bit by bit so time for a specific scenario: "Defend the Gate"
My company had to set up 6" form the center of the board edge, that formed the gate, and my brother's company came to take hold of the gate.
The game would end on the roll of an one or two from a D6 after one company has been brought to 50% or less of their starting numbers.
The company with the most models within 6"of the gate at that moment wins the game.
The first two turns were all about shooting. I got two archers at the fence and two up in the tower one of which did became a hero in last scenario. First turn saw no impact. In the second turn I shot the horse from underneath the warpriest.
Priority for the third turn went to my brother so he could charge in with his cavalry. The warpriest and his infantry did not make it yet.
Shooting did not make a difference to the board.
I lost both duels and directly lost one warrior.
Next round priority was mine. This way I was able to position the fights and cancel out the charge of the cavalry.
Shooting finally did something: one Black Dragon Warrior got sniped. In return my brother shot the Ranger Hero from the tower and he failed his fate-roll. Another one down...
No close combat casualties this turn.
Turn number five
My brother got priority and pushed through my defenses with his warpriest and the Infantry of the Easterlings arrived on the scene.
The remaining ranger from the tower decided to climb down (on the outside of the building) and made it safely.
I killed another Black Dragon Warrior in close combat, the rest of the combat phase saw no casualties.
Priority for next turn was my brothers, but I claimed it via heroic moves and positioned the fights, then my brother got to move and turned some of the fights around. No more shooting from this turn forward.
The Duel roles were all in my brothers favor and he was able to kill three of my warriors leaving me with just three.
I was broken and giving me no chance to win the scenario
With three out of eleven left and my brother still at seven out of nine we decided, for time sake, that he had won this scenario.
My brother claimed another piece on the map, drawing even closer to my home turf.
In the aftermath my brother gained another Kataphract and a warrior with spear.
I lost an warrior with spear and bought one back. I also bought back a horse for my demounted knight.
The Citadel guard decided to become a Hero so my Hero-count is five at the moment.
For next game night I hope we are able to play an interesting city board
