hahaha... I see what you did there!Yep, it's official. Bases don't matter for anything more than decoration in AoS. I'm square with that![]()

HuhThey say bases don't matter, but the rules indicate otherwise. You are better off on square bases.
...no pewter or plastic [?] in your collection then...Plus, can't wait to stack my lead models ...
... on top of other peoples' decorative bases just so I can get in range with more stuff. Hey, buddy, them's da roolz.
American pennies are small, and really ...inexpensive...We can use hexagons if we want! Stack your models even closer that way.
Huhplease explanate...

What if I make a new base for my old base to sit inside of that is like a little fort with spikey rocks on it that your base can't stand on?

Under the movement rules you CANNOT CROSS enemy models.Everything is measured from the model and when everything within 3 inches can attack... its in your best interest to just pile them in as close as possible.
I would HOPE there is some type of ruling to mitigate this??? but honestly its not something i'm hugely concerned with.
Under the movement rules you CANNOT CROSS enemy models.
Climbing on their base = crossing the model. The exact size or shape of a base does not matter but it is PART OF THE MODEL.
This is about moving and placing models and nothing to do with measuring. There is nothing in the rules that describes this, and its pretty explicit about everything being measured from the model.
And it hasn't even been released yet!I suppose I have started the first RAW/RAI debate topic for these rules.

IT HAS BEGUN!!!

Yup... bases are completely meaningless in AoS."A model’s base isn’t considered part of the model – it’s just there to help the model stand up – so don’t include it when measuring distance" .. Um, Rules Page 1.
