Extra Credit put it rather well that GW's shotgun approach to video game licensing plays more into advertising the tabletop brand, and doing it in such a way that the bad games are marginalized and the good ones stand out.GW actually has a tendency to let videogame developers do as they please which has resulted in some uhm, questionable content as well as some utterly genius stuff. Hell, for TW warhammer they're even free to make up their own stuff if they ever decide to include some of the less established factions (like ind, or nippon, or a proper borderprinces faction)
Each individual game also starts off with a limited window into one of three immense settings, in no small part to GW wanting to see if a given studio can work faithfully within the IP before letting them have further access.
