GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

Urm, was this supposed to happen GW?
View attachment 54106

The more I look, the more I see part elf, part tree, part undead, part dragon :joyful: Feels like a way of squeezing into every faction.

Update, I just checked and it's gone now, so yeah they leaked their own stuff. And I only went of there to use the Warscroll Builder to check which Aelves are battleline

I’m honestly hoping that that’s just the Infantry character model GW are giving to Sylvaneth, but it would be just typical if they were giving them a new monster when they only gave us Fyreslayers our Doomseeker back

Hey if you guys want a new unit you need to get in a box! Get in my box dwarves!!!!

Well they announced it, looks like Carrion Empire, but with Gloomspite and Sylvaneth. Two unique characters, what looks like a Loonboss on Squig and of course the guy who is part of everything nearly

I mean he's not really part everything or really outside the theme of other models. The wings if a bit too ragged at the ends have an insect like webbing with many insect like things associated with the the sylvaneth and the head horns echo back to Cernunnos/ the green man and celtic depictions of nature divinity.

The helm looks massivly out of place (too metal) and the Wings are too batlike (ariella's Wings are made out of leafs). Also trees generally don't have Wings which makes it rather weird.

I agree - Sylvaneth have never worn helmets before, and it looks more like a Wild Rider's helmet. The wings are also indeed a bit unusual for forest spirits.

Loving this chap though:

The model itself seems okay to me, at least when shown alongside the other Tree-Revenants. It’s the box art I think that really makes it look odd. It’s been said before but it just looks weird and wrong. I quite like the grot though - especially the little plant/spider/thing!

The model itself looks a lot better, mostly cuz of the paintjob making the Wings and helmet esotherical. It still looks rather out of place though with noone else wearing armour or having freaking Wings.

As for the loonboss, I prefer the old one. The old one looked more like he bit off more than he could chew riding way to dangerous a mount and nearly falling off. It looked more grott like. This new one looks more orruk like, more capable and in control.

So, Slaanesh and Looncurse (goblins + squigs and Sylvaneth).
Luckily for my pocket, i don't collect any of them. :p

I collect Night Goblins, but luckily for my pocket, those Night Goblin Squig units are already available and the Loonboss on Squig character will eventually come out on his own :D

My wife collects Sylvaneth and my buddy wants to start a Grot army, so I might end up getting that box.

I do kinda like the Sylvaneth hero.
The wings look a bit like leaves of the salad I just ate.
I wouldn't paint them ghostly I think, but green like in the artwork they also posted.
The ghost part wearing a helmet doesn't bother me. Like their weapons, the bodies of the Tree-Revenant are ghosts of their old Elf-souls that Alarielle merged with the Trees to save them (or something like that).

I am personally not a huge fan of them, I would prefer pure plant beings like Dryads and Treelords, but I kinda understand the thoughts behind the concept.

Meh, the basic concept doesn't bother me, it's just that his armour and weaponry is far more ornate and pronounced than any of the other revenants. The other revenants only have a weapon (or in the case of the spite revenants not even a weapon, it's just their elven etherial bodies), he has a helmet, a shield & his tree-body looks far more like a suit of armour (it also covers more of him). It makes him stand out a lot. If there'll be others with similar armaments it already wouldn't be a problem anymore.

Also, wings just seem weird on a freaking possesed tree. Even if they're a relativly leaf-like.
