Brodd moment

Not to forget Khorne's new warriors:

Well, it's certainly nice to know that berserkers are getting one hell of an update.
I really like this techno-shaman. Not necessarily the fact that it looks like one of the tactical rockpiles he's standing on is floating, but still.

The psyker I enjoy, if simply because it looks like Lorne.

Everything else is meh. The tank/over armored Mars Rover is a boring main tank, but it does look like something ork players would love to loot.

Character loses points for taci-cool loss of his helmet. As does the champion.

I continue my dislike of the starcraft aesthetic.

The new corn berserker set is everything I thought it would be but will probably be $60 for 10 which is frankly ridiculous.

The chosen are quite clearly sculpted from a stormcast base model/3d skeleton. Hence, I find them mostly derivative and bland. I'm sure they will do well with conversions and painting though and I can see myself painting some.

Demon Prince is still good, as are the ogroids.

Brodd is an addon sprue, which confirms to me that they are going to canis rex/variant to hell the mega gargant kit.

Ogre hunter is cool, but the model is dumb. They literally list him using birds from his kills to protect against the elements yet his entire upper torso is uncovered.

So, what is this? A new starterset? Or just one of those "army boxes" that you can get for 5 seconds on the webshop before it sells out to scalpers and you have to wait a year before the models become available seperatly?

As for the new Gargant, he looks far too busy. Which is kind of weird given how large a model it is.

The votan "tank" looks a bit silly. It's a mars-rover, and it has wheels which is rather odd on a main battle line tank.
Also, not a fan of their characters. Their melee characters just look like tiny space marines and don't fit together with their regular troops in terms of style, and the psyker looks like he belongs in AoS. At least the engineer looks nice.

Ogre hunter looks cool, but if that's all the ogres get it seems a bit pointless.

It's an army set in a similar vein to the sisters of battle box

so a box for scalpers, great :p

As a sidenote, seems like a small box for an army set. It's only 1 hero and 2 units (or 3? do chosen come in sets of 5 or 10?). Wasn't the Sisters of Battle box more similar in size to the various battleforces we get around christmas?

Yes, but this is GW. Price creep happens

They can price creep a bigger box as well :p
Mostly just surprised it's not simply a start-collecting box, it'd work reasonably well for that.

I like the new chaos stuff.
Voltann look rubbish except for the guy in the cloak.
Never going to play gargants as too outrageously overpriced.
I collect ogres but don't like this hunter.
The big hulking Khorne dude might work as a bloodspawn for my khorne Bloodbowl team

So, you need to buy the new vampire bosses seperatly to this expansion? Kinda weird, especially considering that they're like 25,- each. Makes the expansion almost as expensive as the main game, but with a fraction of the content. Which is a rather extreme cost, even by GW standards. Or are they just assuming that everyone who plays cursed city already has a massive vampire army and doesn't need the doubles?

GW is upping their game :greedy::greedy::greedy:

Looks like they downsized a Sons of Behemat mock-up to make this chap, he certainly doesn't look much like an Ogre apart from the gutplate. I agree with the general dissatisfaction toward this model, Ogre Kingdoms players deserved a better Hunter model than that (such as the one in the Underworlds warband).

Not a bad alternative build for the Mega-Giants, I wonder how much GW will add to the price of that already horrendously expensive kit to incorporate his sprue(s)? :p

I'm not fussed about this because we saw all this before ages ago, the only thing that's new is the concept that they're all being packaged into yet another crazily expensive army box a few months before their actual release. Between these army boxes and Battleboxes I like the new GW's attempt at a marketing strategy less and less.

Also a lot of new League of Votann models has arrived.

That psyker is excellent, finally a proper Dwarf with

I've also heard from the lads on EEFL about how this lad would make a good Runelord/Runesmith conversion and I certainly think it's a plausible idea, as there aren't many technological bits on him if you ignore the two Terran-Marine-Droids that accompany him.

The rest also have a bit more facial hair which is good, though the living member of the Weapon Team needs a head swap.

I for one like the Mars Mission aesthetic of the new Squat vehicles, a marked difference from the tanks of the Imperium and it alludes to the possibility that these guys still have some optimistic desire for exploration and innovation within their veins and thus a sense of Dwarven honour, rather than being all about extermination, warfare and doomsaying as the Imperium are.

I also find the Starcraft aesthetics quite amusing, GW are giving Blizzard a bit of a taste of their own medicine there given Blizzard ripped off 40K to create Starcraft in the first place. It's only fair that GW repays the debt ;)

Not to forget Khorne's new warriors:

Nothing more to say than that they're a decent update to a venerable kit and that I'm pleased I bought some of the old ones before the inevitable price hike these will bring arrives.

Another Khorne warband wasn't necessary at all given the first two perfectly encapsulated the Blades of Khorne faction (Garrek's Reavers representing the Bloodreavers and Magore's Fiends representing the Blood Warriors). These don't really seem to fit with any of the units in the AoS army. The fat bloke in particular looks more like one of the Necromunda Corpse Grinders, I'd rather have seen a warband based around an AoS version of them than yet more Khornate stuff. At least it would be different and open up an avenue for a possible new faction.
