GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

Oohh, so those aren't the revenant's wings after all!! :)

I like the bug, it is cute. Like the adorable little worm on the Branchwych's shoulder, but with wings. :)

That would certainly explain why the wings are so insectoid-looking.

That's just given me another conversion idea, but it relies upon the hope that the bug is separate from the revenant - if you want to make your Hive Tyrant a flying Hive Tyrant, just stick that bug on its back and paint it in the colours used for the rest of the Tyrant, as if it were a Tyranid parasite creature that has latched itself onto the Hive Tyrant's back to give it wings (I know the plastic Tyrant has a wing option but I have the metal version that looks very much the same but didn't come with wings or Swarmlord options).

We all know how much you love Slyvaneth! :D

Such potential...

(Disclaimer: I don't actually play GTA but I know of the wasted meme)

well at least it looks a whole lot more sensible now instead of a tree with freaking Wings.

I’ve just had the new White Dwarf for May arrive today. Games Workshop seem to have been getting sloppy with their leaks - first the Thornwych and ‘Martial Memories’, now this! It looks like Stormvault was supposed to be released some time before the issue - not only does it make numerous references to the release, but it explains what it is, gives pictures and even spoils some of what happens in the included booklet! Turns out as well as the presumed endless spells, it’s also set to be a massive scenery collection. Sorrry Tomb King fans - it’s got nothing to do with you. Apparently, during the Age of Myth, Sigmar paraded around with Grimnir and Gorkamorka killing what they could and shoving everything else in these ‘Stormvaults’. They remained hidden away for a while until Nagash’ Necroquake (aka “it’s about time we had a big event) unearthed them all, so now it’s ‘gotta catch them all’ for ridiculous artefacts. From how the magazine presents it though, the main part will be scenery, and for the most part it does seem pretty decent, at least for people looking for more conventional ‘ruins’ and such. I’ll stick some pictures below.

I mean I kinda doubt its an unintentional leak but cool those are some nice ruiny ruins to ruin over.

o more terrain is nice, though I wish there was some AoS terrain that's still whole like the stuff you have in 40K that can actually be build into a proper city without half of it being shot to bits.

I also hope that there are several ways to build the model, like with the bug flying next to the revenant for example. That would look cool.

Not impressed by the new starter set. Gobbos are nice to get in bulk plastic, but they picked what I considered the least interesting of the tree army (the wonky tree-ghost hybrids) to add to the set.

Was this because the tree revenants happened to be the worst selling out of the sylvaneth range?

If I'd have to make a guess it's cuz the dryad's already have 2 minor heroes, a third would be rather crowded & the revenants are getting some relativly major rulechanges as was spoiled with the underworlds warband. So I'd assume they'd want to show them off.

Looks aside (Tree revenants do look wonky and the only Sylvaneth models I like even less are the spite revenants and Drycha):

If the Revenant hero buffs them well and thus opens up another branch (see what I did there) of Sylvameth (lol that was a typo but I will keep it) list building then I am all for it.
Right now the weird thing about them is that
- Spite Revenants work well with Drycha
- Dryads have Branchwych and Branchwraith buffing them either directly or through bataillons

Tree Revenants only have some generic buffs, and IIRC one bataillon. They are required by some but not really buffed by them.

That's the opposite thing we Seraphon have:
We have multiple heroes that buff Saurus, but they are still not worth it, while Skinks are worth it despite us not having a lot of buffs for them.

On the other hand: at least the command ability is generic so you can use it on Dryads and the like as well.

Huh. Weird.
The Revenant buffs Kurnoth Hunters and not the Tree Revenants...

well that's unexpected.. it's not like kurnoth hunters need any buffs as far as I know…

Also, why is there sylvaneth army 3 x looncurse + Alarielle, sticking relativly close to the actual box, while the squig list is ~3x looncurse + boss on mangler + 2 manglers, needing quite some reinforcements from outside the looncurse box. It makes me feel like revenants & kurnoths are going to get quite a buff if you can build an army around them that easily if all you need is just a bunch of them and a hero or two. I mean the grots field 6 different units and 2 battalions, bringing some light cavalry, some heavy, some of whatever unmounted squigs are supposed to be, and 2 behemoths. In contrast the sylvaneth are bringing some archers and some light infantry alongside 1 behemoth and 2 heroes on foot. It seems like the grot army is considerably more "balanced".

Will Seraphon ever get new models, endless spells, new battletome, warscrolls, literally anything?

I find it funny that as someone who only got into the hobby in Age of Sigmar that I'm basically collecting what feels like the only battletome-supported faction in the game that gets no updates.

They recently said they want to give that kind of update to every army. So, eventually yes. We just don't know when.
