I didn't see anything in the book towards summoning. It very much struck me as a book that would enable you to build an army rather than a set of rules for playing the game. It has been designed specifically to be fleshed out by a comp pack. Rules and restrictions on things like summoning will be included in the comp

Or at least that is what I read - It's entirely possible I missed a paragraph or two.

Ignore what I said here - its rubbish - found the bit on summoning

Reinforcement/summoning seems fair...

That Razordon Ripperdactyls nerf though.... :(

Razordons? What happened to them?

Wait, do you mean Ripperdactyls? Those poor flappers will get smashed next time someone tries to use them in battle. They have dropped from elites to average very quickly.

Also, I have a problem with the magic. To avoid an argument, I will keep it short and sweet - what is the point of giving all wizards Arcane Bolt and Mystic Shield if they can't all use it? It seems a bit silly to me, and I think that whole this was intended to stop people summoning huge hordes of one troop, and I will play it like that, but the "universal spells" shouldn't be like that. At least in my opinion.

It also helps against undead players mystic shielding something to auto save every turn, but we cant do that either in turn lol. The Ripperdactyl nerf isn't tooooo terrible but I used mine in a the Shadowstrike Starhost so they got the ambush, re rolls and +1 to wound the first turn. I used Chameleon skinks as well to give them a little support and took out my friends Branchwraith and 5 Dryads turn 1. Would I of loved to get 13 attacks off one Ripper of course! Also thanks for the pictures!

Having played against tzeentch armies that kick out 10 arcane bolts a turn - im not overly depressed about the magic.

No probs on the pictures - I am a little depressed by the rippers being nerfed - I have destroyed so much with them - maximum i got was 59 hits with 6 of them in one turn - that turned into 55 wounds and a whole lotta death :P lol

My gripe with the rippers is that they have been nerfed compared to SCGT but not dropped in points to reflect it... Dont think mine will be coming out again - better things to spend the points on.

I'm waiting on points from forgeworld for the dread saurian - I expect him to come in at about 640 points.

With the clarification in the FAQ that you can stack mystic shields it does seem fair that you shouldn't be allowed to multi mystic shield things to hell. But that said it does seem a little harsh to me. Even allowing at least two to cast something would be much better in my mind.

Rule of Twos anyone?

I don't have the store's book in my hands, and my copy obviously han not jet arrived, but AFAIK rule of one works only in pitched battles.
This would mean that in games with no points (the narrative campaing?) you can still cast as a machinegun.

So...
Points, or multiple spells? Because that is effectively the choice that they've given us.

The points are more for a tournament use. If you and your opponent agree, you can house rule anything. So if you want to play competitively in tournaments then most likely limited spells. If you're playing casually at home or in a store, you and the opponent can figure it out.

Oh. I knew that.:D
Does anyone have the pics of the abilities tables for order? I can't find them anywhere.

Were you able to find the points for the legacy models such as skink chief or Oxyotl?
I saw the book for a couple minutes last night. I don't remember Oxyotl's points (100-ish?) but the Skink Chief was 60, IIRC.

No such luck sorry guys, 60 for the Chief sounds right though.

I was a little bit disappointed to see that there isn't really anythingthat you would want a slann to take to help with casting - or really any caster - it all seems to be battleshock (not really necessary for us) or combat (more appropriate for a saurus general).... I was expecting to seem something along the lines of a dispell scroll or once per game add an extra D6 to your casting dice or +1 to unbind attempts or +3" to casting/unbinding range etc etc

Yeah...
But I guess most people will be using more combat-orientated Generals. With the rumours flying around about supposed race-specific artifacts coming out at some point, we will have to wait and hope that something pops up for us.

Slann are also some of the strongest casters in the game too though something like that might have a lot of complaints. There are the Command traits too maybe the put on in there? The damn book needs to be released already!! Lol
