Here's my list. I have a few points left so any advice would be welcome!


Life Priest:
BSB + Focus of Life + The Focussed Rumination + The Becalming Cogitation
The Divine Plaque

- In the Temple Guard. I could lose Becalming but we shall see.

Death Priest:
Higher State + Unfathomable Presence

Well, asides from not being a legal list, it looks good,
You have 850 points in lords,
You can only have 562 ish, points worth of lords in 2250 point games
 
Keep becalming. It helps stop the dice spam on high level spells hoping for irresistable.
 
As Ilnar3 said you have too many points in Lords. The cap is 25% lords 25% heroes 50% Special 25% rare, and with a MINIMUM of 25% core.

And of course the flying carpet is up for debate as even usable by a Slann.
 
I'd give him the carpet, the FAQ just says he can't use the retransform spell, people have assumed it's because he was Us 3 but unless they update the FAQ again, he's just an infantry model who can't use transform
 
Hmm don't know how I managed to cock the maths up on that. I guess the ales last night didn't help.

Cancel the list for now. I'll have a non-hung-over think later.

The only reason he wouldn't be able to use the transformation is if he is not considered on foot, therefore he can't use the carpet (this isn't a leap, it is common sense). Just because GW sucks at writing FAQs doesn't mean if it doesn't specifically state I can't use use an Item then I can. And use it if you want, but I personally wouldn't.
 
That's not really logical, the only reason he can't use transform is because GW says he can't.,
He is now listed as infantry, with all the good, and bad, that that implies, now, if gw out and say, yes we bodged up, he should be a MI but without stomp, then fine, he can use the carpet,
As it stands, all we know about the slain in 8th is that he's an infantry model who can't use transform, if gw had ment for him not to be considered on foot, they woulD have said that, I'm, not saying your wrong, but as it stands, he can be picked up by a giant, and killing blowed, all these arguments rely on the slain being US 3 in 7th Ed, US no longer exists, he was never considered a mounted model, if anything, he's MI which still doesn't exempt him from using the carpet,
The only logical reason to have the slaan not change into nastiness is the inevitable arguments of, 'where does the chair go?' when the slaan turns back.
Feel free to take those magic carpet wielding slaan and fly them straight into a giant, or skulltaker.

Again you are trying to take advantage of the fact that GW sucks at writing FAQs and by answering one question added confusion for others. And yes it is logical, what is the one restriction on using Transformation? That the caster be on foot. So if the Slann can't cast it was does that imply logically? That he is not considered on foot. It can't get much more logical I am afraid.

And even by your logic of the wondering where the chair goes when he transforms back implies that he is mounted on a chair. And if he is mounted on a chair than well he's not on foot is he and can't use the carpet.

And you are creating mountains out of molehills. I said it was up for debate, which implies people see it both ways. And it all depends on how your local gaming group sees it. Personally my group sees the logic and does not allow the carpet on a Slann. So just dicuss it with your gaming group until a clear answer is given. If they don't see the logic and allow the carpet then more power to you.
 
So can you killing blow a slaan?
Can giants get all freaky with them?
If a slaan is a mounted model, does it get a 6 up save for being mounted? I mean, he's not on foot? What other option is there?
If a slaan is a mounted model, does it get a look out sir in a unit of temple guard,
If not, does it get one in a unit of COR?

He is an infantry model, infantry, by definition, on foot,

He just can't use the transform spell because he'd have to leave the chair behind!
Do we know if slaan can still walk?

Cavalry models have 2 sets of characteristics,
Rider and mount,
Slaan has one,
Cavalry models have the unit type, cavalry, slaan does not,
Cavalry get a 6+ armor save, slaan does not,

Cavalry have swift stride, slaan does not,

The slaan is listed as an infantry model. I.e. On foot,

You don't know why GW has said he can't use the spell. They didn't say. ALL we know is he can't use transform, end of.
 
The only comparable unit I can think of off hand is a Herald of Nurgle on palanquin. It still counts as infantry according to the rulebook bestiary, but it grants him a 6+ armor save and offers additional attacks.

I'd assume this is the reason they went out of their way to specify 'Infantry Models On Foot' for the magic carpet rules- because not all infantry models actually are on foot. We all know what assuming leads to though...

YourMumRang I apologize for the sidetrack your thread has taken. I only meant for my comment to make you aware that some people see rules differently. Though some tend to defend their mindset more stubbornly then others.

Look there is no need for me to "argue" with someone who is obtuse. There is no point.

If you can come up with any argument other than "it's logical and any who doesn't get it is slow" then I'd be quite happy to agree, as it is, you haven't.

I am perfectly willing to have a reasonable discussion on the topic, but for that to be the case the people involved have to be able to see both sides of the argument. And you have obviously shown that you are unwilling or unable to do that. I have stated multiple times that if you want to take the carpet then go for it, I do not hold it against anyone or refuse to see where they are coming from. But all you seem top pick out is the fact that I say there is grounds to the other side of the argument where it doesn't make sense for him to use it. It does not mean you are "slow", it just means you just aren't willing or are unable to perceive the validity in another point of view. And well if you find that insulting then so be it.
 
Ok, well, on what grounds do you believe the slaan shouldn't ride the carpet,
RAW please, since we don't know what they intended when they forbade transform.
