I could not lift six reams of paper (or the equivalent in chipboard) by grabbing the opposite end of the pipe. Certainly could not wield it. Those guys are swinging anvils nailed to the ends of pipes.
I really hope the rumor of that there will be a scale difference between new and old models is wrong. If that is true it would be like a slap in the face for all of us that already have old models.

I assume that we will be able to use them... it wouldn't make much sense for GW to prevent us from doing so. Plus the rumours seem to lean that way as well.
What I worry about is that our army...
will slowly wither against power creep
won't look good alongside of the new stuff which may potential be of a slightly larger scale

What I did here is make a little box. At the edge of the base. Then copy that box as
many times as needed to make a vertical ruler.
The figure is eight base thicknesses tall. If the base is 4mm thick the figure is 32mm boot heel to noggin, plus that annoying pony tail. When I compared the straight lines I got a thickness estimate of 4mm rather than the traditional 3mm.
I could throw the image in a CAD program; draw a grid; assume the base is 32mm wide...
Siggyknigget3 :: for the inspection of one and all. The squares in the grid are 1/16th the width of the base. There are 16 squares highlighted in yellow. If that base is a 32mm circle as has been speculated then the squares are 2mm each. 2x16=32. Boot-heel to noggin at least 32mm. Spikes and horse[?]hair top-knot add another 5mm. The anvil he is waving around is at an altitude of around 46mm above the base.
New rules and support for old armies (so Bretonnian update also?). Continued support after is still in question.
Two new 'armies' - could be taken as two new factions (digging that old rumour back up), however I think it's more likely to be in line with GW approach to 40K armies (Khorne Daemonkin, Eldar Craftworlds, etc).
Both small-scale and large-scale battles possible.
Small rulebook with AoS.
Continued support for AoS releases.
Honestly, if they've really invested and created a "rich" world, as the 95 page background book might hint at, then I'd be much more content.
My nitpicking: it says support for old *models.* Bretonnia as a coherent or distinct army may still be dead (./weeps uncontrollably over unpainted Bret lord on Pegasus)
