AoS Age of Sigmar Rumours - Mk II. (Our new name)

That seems off. Don't you think you'll have to pick one from the beginning? Obviously the rules are a bit unclear on this. I had to read the description for saurus warriors s couple of times and figured you'd just decide from the beginning like we're used to. Otherwise a SW have 2 melee weapon attacks and 1 with the jaw.

ok, i'm reading our warscroll and core rules. We DO need a way to balance armies for sure, BUT imo this game has potential, even if i'm going to keep playing 8th or join lizardhammer (maybe play both systems).

On a different topic... rolls for casting now have no bonuses, ok... but we can have a +1 thanks to the slann. And +1 for the standard bearer. And then summon another standard bearer. And... another... and another... and another... Oh my Old Ones...

Sqwuaaaaaaaark hiiiiiiiiis!

Google Translate: " well the rules state 'Each model in the unit attacks with all of the melee weapons it is armed with (see Attacking).'

so yes 23 attacks when at full health...
j/k ?

ROAAAAAAAAAAAR SQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK!!!!!

Google Translate: "Taken from the Engine of the Gods

'14-17 A Seraphon unit is called forth from Azyr to join your army. Set up all its models within 8" of this model, at least 9" from the enemy'

We are in the same realm as Sigmar. Heavens be praised."

Grizzlemaw has potential to be converted into a Salamander though... (the new chaos hound from the starter set)

Pinned Down: Carnosaurs tackle large prey by pinning them in place before tearing into them with their massive jaws. If an enemy Monster is hit twice with the Carnosaur’s Clawed Forelimbs, you can add 2 to the result when rolling to hit that target with the Carnosaur’s Massive Jaws in the same turn.

Question: Does this mean that a Carnosaur auto-hit with his jaws if the Carnosaur hits with both his claws? As the Carnosaur hits on a 3+ with it's jaw and there's nothing about that a roll of 1 is an auto-miss.

I guess so yes.. because your chance of hitting with the Clawed Forelimbs, changes depending how many wounds you have taken, so your odds to get both get harder, so I guess it is just a bonus for hitting on both attacks. Basically if you get both arms hitting, he's pinned thereby cannot move and avoid the jaws.

This would make him particularly nasty... if you got that off first time, killed the unit without taking more than two wounds, (gaining blood frenzy) then you could run 10"+D6, and then also charge in the same turn from then on out.. that's some huge coverage.

Most importantly to summon 10 whatevers you have-to-have 10 whatevers...?
Is that specified someplace?

Legitimate point, Something they should clarify with an FAQ or Errata, which would be super easy to do because since its digitial they could update it within a week for everyone to download the clarified rule.
There are two possibilities, you must have a warscroll for every unit you may play (3 Saurus warscrolls if you wish to have 3 saurus units to deploy and or summon)
Or since the the Warscrolls describe what a unit/model can do not what each unit can do they represent the units you can bring in (1 Saurus war scroll put down, allows you to deploy and or summon as many saurus units as you have in your collection (granted casualties they sustain affect you negatively when considering minor victories)
This second one could lead to a type of hombrew balancing, you have Heroes (some of which are wizards or preists), Monsters and Units. You may limit battles by how setting limits on heroes or monsters one can have (either in play or in total). So far the Casting value of a Slann bringing in some Skins or Saurus is much different then dropping a Saurus on a Carnosaur or a Stegadon.

This could be a weak point we must be aware of when playing with a Slann in these rules. We can hold some of our forces in reserve and have the Slann summon them, but it is more difficult the more powerful the unit, and the Slann will be a target. If the enemy gets the Slann before you summon your reserves it cuts your deployed forces from reinforcements.
The flip side could be deploying a small force to start, accessing a sudden death objective. With Endure or seize ground this means you then start to summon the rest of the army to go for that objective. With Blunt or Assassinate it means trying to find the right time to summon your hard hitting Hero/Monster/Unit when the path to the target is clear all while ensuring the opponent doesn't interfere.

One other thing, after doing the demo's today, it seems that there is no rule stating that you cannot re rollen rerolls. Check the rules, id love it if you find it, but i certainly cant! This makes High elf dragons op, as they have an armor safe that can always be etetnally rerolled. This rulespack has Some funny and good ideas in it, but to much of it lacks good competetive rules, consisteny and ofcourse BALANCE

For the new Saurus Host. Do you think that it implies that you must take and Oldblood on foot, or can you take an Oldblood on cold one?

And to the above poster is says on page one of the rules "Some rules allow you to re-roll a dice roll, which means you get to roll some or all of the dice again. You can never re-roll a dice more than once, and re-rolls happen before modifiers to the roll (if any) are applied." Under tools of war.

*HIIISSS SQUAARK!!*

Google Translate: "not too sorry about that actually. Seems appropriate. Im just tired that I have to rely on summoning from now on."

GW seems to have gone full WYSIWYG ... So I believe, especially from the description of the Skink weapons, that models are equipped with literally what they are holding. So look at your model, what does it have in its hand? That is the weapon it is attacking with.

GW has finally killed unit fillers!

Maybe its just only me, but... "I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened." R.I.P WHFB
Visited an introduction/demo event. Had a chat with a store manager, all rulebooks and armybooks are trashed, thats all we get as WHFB. No 9th edition, just age of sigmar. He told me, the game is about having fun, not winning, and you can write a story to your army, etc...
Well, I like tournaments, but based on these rules... we wont see any of them soon.
Btw, the new minis look awesome, the starter set and 2 new scenery items are the new releases only.

On a sidenote. I was hoping for a ~ skirmish game, wich is just another game with the same figures, and we get a proper 9th edition book, with slight changes compared to 8th. No, these short-sighted morons - pardon me [no, Im not even a bit sorry] - spit into our eyes with this. All is about luring new players to the game to buy models, thats all. Raging mode off, constructive ideas: is it worth trying to negotiate with GW to buy rigths to publish OUR(the whfb community) rulebook? We could raise some money, and buy the rights, we could easily create a rulebook + armybooks that fits our ~needs (since they ignore our demands)?

I can only imagine what they would ask for something like that... We would be talking millions most probably.

On a side note, I do not believe there would be too much issues regarding rulebook / armybooks as long as it is not pushed in their face. As if they are able to be completed, there is no way GW could bring them down even if they would like to. The main issue here, would be to get the community to agree on that said books actually is valid and what should be used.

Millions, yeah, I can imagine that. But, I think our community has the power to create those books, call it battleaxe fantasy battles, make it close enough to be whfb, yet different to be legal product. I hope they see that giving the right to create our rules makes their products sale more, plus if they get the rulebook sales...
Anyway, I think they forgot something. Most of the players came to this game is by friends, correct me if thats wrong. I think most of the veterans wouldnt recommend any new players to start the game based on gw-s habits. So yeah, spit into our eyes, but it will hit back.
My cousin was about to join the community, I was about to start my 2nd army, now we wait instead to see what happens.

I agree, I had a freind who had played before, and thought of getting back into the hobby, but because of all the uncertainty, he did not start an army, and now I do not believe he will.

GREAT news!
One of my friends downloaded the 4 pages as an EBOOK
and the pages we have seen now is numerated 53-58 in that file !

Maybe they'll be part of the 94 page fluff book? I do, however, enjoy your ever optimistic enthusiasm :D
