Blog Sleepy corner

I didn't know they got so big!

Yah, there is a reason that for a long time it was one of, if not the most expensive product on Forgeworld. Maybe Titans were more expensive... but I remember Titans being able to be purchased piecemeal - buy the body, then an arm, then the other - whereas the Manta you had to buy in a single huge heaping of £1200 (if my memory serves)

In their defence, I think Manta kit includes also full cargo bay with 4 barracudas, bunch of crisis suits, pile of drones and a out 4 units of infantry.

So... it's the same size as a smart car, can carry about as much as a smart car, costs about the same as a smart car...

Why not just buy a smart car, paint it ochre, and put it on the table? :-P

And it's as I type this joke that I realise that I haven't actually seen any smart cars for a good long while... have they gone out of fashion? Or did all the Tau players buy them all? :-P

Warhammer players stopped buying them as putting army in trunk meant you doubled the price of vehicle. :D

Thats so much money

I had some time and wanted to paint something. Then I found out that I left my box with brushes at work. So more preshading it is. This time first half of MESBG orks and those three crisis suit heads I primed yesterday.

You know what you need to do now mate... another size comparison! :D

I finally scraped that default base from under legs (at least on first 6 of them), so they are on same base level and I found old easy to build Cadian. Here is photo for you.

I'm interested to know if they could work as little Steampunk light tanks for humans, or if they're purely and unshakeably built for use by midget Quar.
And I didn't quite liked plastic tractor as there were some compromises for injection molding... So I spent 4 hours measuring stuff and 3D modeling to make my own one.

This time, I didn't think I'll have any hobby time at home, so I left everything in the office... Well... at least secondary xacto, drills and magnets are at home. No way I'll pay for second Isengard troll :D

@Imrahil Buddy, do you happen to know if I should magnetise shield as well? :)

Nice!! There is the option to field him without a shield, but there are two different arms in the kit. So I glued the shield to one of the arms and have the other arm for the instance I don't need a shield... whenever that might be ;)

Do you also magnetize the heads and body armor?

Grrr, !mrahil

Chmmm... I´ll think about nagnetising the shoulder, but initially I wanted to putty most of body gaps.

Nope, it is tempting, but this will be Isengard only troll. :)

Thanks mate, that is just what I was looking for! Hmm, interesting to see that the new plastic 'normal' Quar are actually around a head taller than a Skink, so must be a little bit bigger than your 3D-printed ones from earlier. They're also a head taller than the Fidwogs, who are definitely around Skink height, and the 'normal' Quar are a head shorter than a human.

Hmm those little tractors are very much on the small side for a human... perhaps they could work as 1-man 'Grot tank' equivalents, but even then they'd be especially claustrophobic!

The bigger ones for the Crusaders and Coftyrans, though, would still work nicely as light tanks for a Steampunk/Dieselpunk human force.

No problem, but to clarify, Fidwogs are first hard plastic ones I own, rest are all printed. But from official sources, so they should have same height as plastic ones, since I saw people using 3D printed arms from same sets I use to fit on plastic bodies.

And It is time for some shots :)
