So... poll closed on a three-way tie... what's the protocol here, boss? Have the authors meet up for a deathmatch? Roll a three-sided dice? Or go to the Winchester, have a pint, and wait for this whole thing to blow over?

It would require another round of votings, restricted to those 3 stories.

This might break a tie or at least bring it down to a two-way tie :P

Grrr, !mrahil

I prefer a fight to the death in an arena. I would accept a nonlethal fight as long as the losers are beaten unconscious.

But I believe Scalenex is going to set up a run-off election...

Also @J.Logan that was a really good tale. I very much enjoyed it. I hope you plan on expanding it now XD

Eventually there shall be more. It kind of doubled as a sneak peak of future plans, as well as the slice of the Realms that I'm working on as my local group's personal stomping grounds.

Skritch will defintely make a return. I can envision some fun shenanigans with a skaven styling himself as a Victorian gentlemen-professor as a villain.

Thanks guys! :)
And Congratulations to my co-winner @Killer Angel with a great story. Which had my vote from the beginning.

This is only my second first place and both of them are joined first places.

Just some clarifications about my story

An End Times story; very cleverly crafted. At first I was wondering how the Lizardmen would act on the attack and the assassin within their walls. The downward pressure seemed strange, but with the first ‘intercom’ message it was clearly because of the take-off from the dying World-that-was. Suspense in the end if the Rat-assassin will ever succeed in his endeavor. Surprising piece, written from a fun perspective.

My misgiving is pretty small. I’d like to know a little bit more about the point of view character. I’m not sure what clan the Skaven is from. Eshin, is my best guest but he referenced other clans frequently. Skaven don’t normally have this level of stoicism and self control. A little bit of backstory would have helped me understand him better. Did he realize that even if his mission succeeded, he would be trapped and unable to return home or did he not care? That’s rattling about my head.

Alas, the mission of the assassin (which logically should be Eshin, but who cares?) will fail.
He's stuck in a section of the space ship which has been closed ermetically, and his efforts to break through already failed.
There is no way out, and while the lizardmen will go into stasis for the travel across star systems, that will lasts hundreds of years, he'll be awake and alone in a place with oxygen, food and water... for the rest of his life. With a slow realization (as the days become weeks, and weeks become months) that the door will never open
@J.Logan guessed it right: it's a funny cosmic horror story. ;)

lol... it seems there has been a misunderstanding between me and @Imrahil, regarding who was supposed to pm you. :p

Both separately pm suggestions and that's the final tie-breaker, whoever gets their suggestion used gets to lord over the other :-p
