The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

I don’t think this movie is a product of woke / sjw culture.
It was just a try to grab money over an unexpected success that was designed to be a finished story... at most, it's a product of the inability to bring new ideas to the table.

I think there was a little bit of an aspect of wokeness in that they wanted to destroy an icon that "toxic men" were flocking to, but I don't think that was the primary cause of this film failing.

On the laundry list of bad ideas, one stands out.

The studio knew Joker 2019 was very risky but it was also low budget, relatively speaking. It didn't just make a billion dollars. It made a billion dollars on a 65 million dollar budget.

That's why the first film was made with low oversight. It's an old strategy that has fallen out of favor in modern Hollywood. They used to greenlight a bunch of low budget movies from relatively unknown directors. If four out of five of them flop, not a huge loss as one in five succeeding can make real bank.

But just because a director/writer/actor has an unexpected hit does not mean you write them a blank check. You go from 65 million to 85 million, not 200 million.

They are calling it canon. Is commentary really necessary?

I thought Kathleen Kennedy was out of ways to desecrate the corpse that is the Star Wars franchise.

Apparently there are rumors that there are plans in the works to make ANOTHER Indiana Jones movie.

I don't believe it. I believe this is a false flag or a desperate ploy of Kathleen Kennedy who likes to announce movies without Disney's permission. Remember I think there were 5-7 announced Star Wars movies that cancelled in preproduction.

This isn't directly tied to wokeness, but where are the B-movies in the last 20 years?

The 70s, 80s, and 90s had a bunch of B-movies. Sometimes you'd get an unexpected cult classic, but even if not, a lot of no-name actors and actresses got their their start in forgotten B-movies. At the very least, it lets casting directors know who won't flub their lines or throw tantrums on the set.

Now we throw nobodies into big budget movies and it gets weird, weird.

That's not even a Stormtrooper, it's a Phase II Clone Trooper as evidenced by the helmet, rifle and the wearing of personal colours on the armour.

Not content with mutilating the OT, Kennedy's turning to my beloved Prequels next...

It sounds like woke is one of the problems with this, but not the only problem with it. I never played a Tomb Raider game, so I don't know much about it.

I watched the 2001 movie in theaters because at the time, I was 19.

The wokesters are attacking hardcore fans of musicals.

Hardly a fanbase made of toxic hypermasculine right wingers but attacked for wrongthink nonetheless.
