GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

That's half the fun. Pointing and laughing when the idiot slaverats get blown up by the room rocket that they were trying to get ready for launch. Skaven strategy is not going according to plan if they aren't nuking two thirds of their own chaff.
I'll put my faith in finely crafted Chaos Dwarven steel!

Do not let the Skaven tempt you. There is only the Father of Darkness, Hashut.

(okay, Slaanesh and Tzeentch too)
I will not let the Skaven tempt me. Or Hashut. Or the Chaos Gods. They are all deviations from the great plan of the Old Ones and will be dealt with accordingly. I'm on the side of the Lizardmen/Seraphon and no others!

That is half the fun. Silly Skaven!

Tell you what, when playing as Skaven in Total Warhammer, no other faction can make you laugh nearly so much for accidently killing off your clanrats or skavenslaves. Just position a few ratling gunners, let them put on their commissar hats, and giggle uncontrollably as they just fire without any regard for whether they're pointing their weapons at friend or foe. It is all food-food at the end of the day.

Wisely spoken. I'm sure the Old Ones will take note... well, probably not Sotek, for he tends to be on the more irritable side... but I'm sure Chotek shall smile upon thee. Maybe even gift you a Solar Engine for your dedication.

Now excuse me while I chat with this strange blind man with a white raven. He says he needs to advise me on the gods... I'm sure it is all totally legitimate and harmless...

:p

That does sound like a good time.

:woot:

Since you're an 8th edition WHFB player, I'll let this infraction slide... this one time. Don't let it happen again.

Why have you abandoned the great plan of the Old Ones?

That's only if you believe the trash that is the End Times

Unfortunately, I do believe in the End Times. I believe in the End Times in that I believe that was the exact moment that GeeDubs lined any common sense and rational thought against the wall, and got their commissars to do as commissars do best.

Age of Sigmar.

Again I have to iterate that I do like Age of Sigmar. In a vacuum. Like many people, I am not pleased with destroying a beloved setting to make way for it. And I wasn't even a big fan of Warhammer when all that went down, other than the occasional enjoyment of whichever videogame.

That's understandable if you're still smarting from it... though I'm happy they've at least tried to make some form of amendment and resurrected it as TOW. As far as I'm concerned, End Times didn't happen and the Warhammer Fantasy world continues to exist... nothing to see here people, move along

But as a whole it was a weird time in the mid-2010s as far as Warhammer and GW was concerned... you had the End Times killing off Fantasy, AoS 1st Edition pretty much trolling the Fantasy playerbase, 40K releasing another (unnecessary and as it turned out messed-up) new Edition 2 years too early (followed by 8th 40K which set it along the same shite direction it continues to follow today), Middle-Earth just being forgotten until 2017 and all the Specialist Games being killed off (followed by slow resurrections from 2016 onwards).

There's a lot of the old GW I'd rather see back, I grant you, but I've realised all I can do is make the best of what there is and cling to whatever few good bits arise.

Only just got round to posting my response to the NOVA preview way back when... been busy lately.

@Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl ... not quite the roadmap we might have hoped for. A pretty lackluster TOW reveal...

Wait .. Hold on... Was that it? That's not a road map, c that's a vague 'oh yeah, and stuff'. With the sights of the Chaos release, I was hoping that would mean the Empire and High Elf releases would be by the end of this year, maybe as a December release to finish off the year. And then for next year the road map should have revealed the intended first campaign book and a tease.

Wait... No mention of the wood elves or beastmen...? My gawd... This is not a roadmap... This is a doodle in crayon on a used napkin.

Edit: I was sincerely hoping that all the core factions would be released by the end of the year, if for no other reason then to have all the armies available ASAP. I hate HAAATE the whole staggered faction release. I've said it before, but I hated getting the Seraphon battletome only for the new edition of AoS to be announced months later, while other factions got to enjoy years of their rules (errata notwithstanding). Was it really too much to ask for that when the majority of the models are older molds that we can get everybody tabled and arcane journal'd before the game hits a year?

Yeah, that certainly wasn't what I was expecting... the Dwarf bit of course refers to the Made to Order part of the Dwarf release which is yet to come I believe, and of course we've still got Warriors of Chaos Wave 2 to come... but they could still have fitted in at least 2 more factions across October and November if they were really putting in the effort. Ugh... but then Horus Heresy has been given similar treatment in that regard, so it looks like both those games, preserving the proper GW rulesets, are being put on the backburner for a while. Probably to do with the pointless new Edition of Kill Team coming this week, the new Edition of Middle Earth which may be less pointless, and the relentless Codex/Battletome creep for False 40K and AoS: The Failure of Fourth...

Ugh, and damned Empire... I was expecting they'd follow the 'fake' roadmap and release them last as they thoroughly deserve to be. I suppose my Empire-playing friend will be happy, but it means Beasty Boys and Wood Elves won't be coming round until... probably March-April 2025 at least :(

@Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl must be happy to see this (knowing how much he loves Empire):

I wonder what "a collection of totally new models" entails.

I dread to think... I will have to say it's the most typical thing GW would do... they've always had a soft-spot for the wimpy silly-hatted neo-Germans.

I'd say this entire Nova Open preview was underwhelming... but... CHAOS DWARFS!! View attachment 152917

The Chaos Dwarfs are on a roll. GW announce a new Blood Bowl star player, H’thark the Unstoppable!

Agreed, these chaps were undoubtedly the pinnacle of the preview, and they look fantastic. A bit of an expensive way to build a Fantasy army of them for any Edition (especially the Forge World Resin Bull Centaurs) that would require a good session of scavenging for weapon bitz, but it's better than nothing... and I'm impressed at how they've modernised the original Big-Hat aesthetic slightly but kept it very faithful. Certainly a creative hobbyist with a lot of time and money on their hands could make something magnificent out of them.
