Great to see Fyreslayers given some press through an event model for the first time! A very nice alternative Runesmiter sculpt.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to grab the main rulebook, Forces of Fantasy and Ravening Hordes. I don't need to grab either Army box, as I will probably play Orcs and Goblins and Empire, though Dwarves, Lizardmen, and Skaven are in the mix for me as well.
I plan on just buying the books myself, though I'll likely get the Arcane Journals as well. I've decided that the only army of mine that I'll use for TOW is my Brets, at least initially. I might use my WOC as well. All the rest of my armies I'll use to play 8th and 6th.

I'm honestly surprised you dislike such big improvements to the old models, but to each their own.
In my eyes they are not an improvement at all. The old swarms were nothing special, but these are even worse. Not like I've ever used swarms in game anyways.

It is good to see Fyreslayers get some model love again.

By the way, I read that Fyreslayers placed first at a recent (albeit small) tournament in the UK; Ragnarok Rumble.

A model that you plan to purchase?

Potentially, though it'd require me to get down to my local GW on its Store Anniversary, which may not be possible.

Saw this - great to see my beloved Dawi being next up for a release, most likely alongside their hated enemies, my equally beloved Greenskins. It certainly sounds like GW have regular TOW releases planned over the next few months, certainly initially at least to get the Big Nine factions off and running, though the most interesting thing to find out will be what they plan to do after they've set all these main factions up. How will they be able to prolong the game's lifespan after these initial range drops?

https://www.warhammer-community.com...-the-past-and-future-of-a-stone-cold-classic/ Well, looks like @NIGHTBRINGER was right to be so cynical. Looks like I'm sticking with 8th and 6th.
Yes, I think it was fairly obvious that the PDF factions weren't going to be fully supported when TOW dropped. But this does make it sound like those factions are just extra. Apparently/Possibly/Hopefully, GW will add them as TOW evolves; especially if it becomes popular. Let's hope it doesn't take 10+ years.

I wish I had been wrong. I wish TOW was a faithful continuation of Warhammer Fantasy. But there it is, they are openly telling us that the legacy armies will play no meaningful part in TOW. Not tournament legal. No ongoing support. If you want to play TOW in the long term, you must focus on one of the featured armies. The free legacy army pdf rules are simply a means to sample the game of TOW; nothing more.

Never thought I'd see the day where GW promotes the use of unit fillers. Something refreshing for TOW:

You did notice in promoting it they 1) specified a set particular shape/size ..and 2) they used only parts - bits - pieces from their kits.

They did not do any examples where the unit filler was 2x2. They didn’t do any examples where one figure is given two bases because its weapons or whatnot overhang just one base so badly. They didn’t do an example of a filler that was a whole rank (there used to be bases that were for a full rank - width 4x1 deep).

I’d like to hope any or all of that would be fine.

But if not, time to start writing the standard, standing house rules that should exist whether GDub can be bothered to incorporate them or not. IMO.

I love my TK and i would gladly play them in a game similar to WHFB but supported.
But the mere fact that armies as Lizardmen and Skaven will not be included, is a heavy blow to my already vaning desire.
