What are you doing today hobbywise?

I will be confused for days, it was a thing you had to buy something else in order to buy the Supply drop, random dangerous item error that was happening. So went for a Skaven Doom-Flayer, of course got that then this was in the box also.

Will have to work out what to do with it, I like Lord of the Rings and Hobbit but not enough to actually collect it, will just have to sit on the shelf while I decide.
Use it for testing new techniques

I contemplated making a new army out of a box of the Krieg Kill Team and a Krieg-crewed Thudd Gun I have lying around, and set up plans to play two games in tabletop simulator later this week... in theory...

Testing the whole Skinks on Eels. With a bit of trimming it might work but then it means all the Skinks will be facing the same way because I would be using those Oracle Skinks up, unless I trim and reposition the torso.
Or be a normal person for once and build normal Idoneth but that is asking a lot for me to do so :DIMG_20230111_105942178~2.jpg

I think that looks good. You can get a lot of mileage with wire and greenstuff on neck angle changes.

Um... A friend of mine is doing a Path to Glory campaign, so we're doing some test-games in Tabletop Simulator tomorrow. I got to thinking, "what is the stupidest force I could run?" Well, it turns out the rules for this particular Path to Glory are: Max three heroes, limit one Wizard, one Priest, and - this is key - NO BATTLELINE REQUIREMENTS.

...

So I decided to make a 600 point Path to Glory Big Waagh force using the four Warhammer Underworlds warbands from the Orruk Warclans. I'll let you know tomorrow if they work or not. :D

Remember that box of cataphracts I got for Christmas? It was miss-packed with 4 trooper sprues instead of 3. 16 cavalry vs 12!

I think this was done on purpose to make sure you have 12 cavalry, as though there are 16 riders, there are only 3 horses per sprue, meaning 12 in total:

The extra rider body is for variation.

However, Fireforge sell packs of 6 Heavy Barded Horses here:
https://fireforge-games.com/horses/699-heavy-barded-horses-6-pcs.html

So buying one of these would give you your 16 cavalry, with 2 horses left over to mount any additional rider bodies you may have that would fit with your Late Romans to give you a couple of mounted characters.

I also happen to have a horse sprue separately. I'll use that to fill over the bodies since I overlooked the horse deficit.

Not necessarily a big issue, I would think.

These good lads got some more details painted on them (after 10 years...) for doing well on the tabletop this week!

Quite fun, when you don't have a specific goal in mind, to just grab a handful of half painted minis and just do whatever work on them you feel like!

Well, that was... interesting.

So.. Path to Glory, 600 points. The points updates dropped an hour before our game on Tabletop Simulator started, and the points changes meant I was suddenly short 90 points, so I added in a unit of Hobgrots to see what they could do. I will be honest, I messed up a few things. Ironskull's Boyz and Morgok's Krushas should have moved up together. Instead they attacked piecemeal, and while they did damage, they also got wiped out. Hobgrots did some damage, but mostly just tied up a unit of Grimghast Reapers and the Knight of Shrouds for three turns. Hedkrakka's Madmob and Da Kunnin' Krew did a pretty good job wiping out most of the rest of the Nighthaunt force, but it was not to be. We were playing for table quarters. It was a close game, but by turn 5 Hedkrakka was my only model left. He managed to wipe out the 5 Chainrasps surrounding him (for a wizard, Hedkrakka is a surprisingly good melee combatant), but the Knight of Shrouds did him in. End score: 4 to 5 in favor of the Nighthaunt.

It was incredibly fun, hilariously funny, and much closer than either of us expected it to be. If I'd managed to get Hedkrakka's spells to work (for three turns I forgot he can cast twice, which worked against me) it might have gone a little better for me, but all in all the four warbands did amazingly well, which just goes to show that in small games the Underworld Warbands (for the Orruk Warclans, at least) are sometimes worth the points. :D

I recently got around to building more Blood Bowl minis again, specifically a properly pirate-themed Skaven team from Punga Miniatures to eventually be the replacements for my current Grey Coast Scuttlers.

The planking was done using strips of balsa wood.

I plan on doing some work on the Loonking for an upcoming battle against my better half. She will be taking control of a Gloomspite Gitz army I prepared for her. I will be leading a Glade of Sylvaneth to crush all who enter the forests, actually also an army for my wife. Last year(Maybe even longer ago) we spent an evening going through all the model range on the GW website. We looked at aesthetics as well as all the individual warscrolls that were conveniently on the website.
