Wood, because it can be used for a load of different armies in Fantasy and 40K, with tweaks made to the features and foliage on the wood. Most of the others only really fit in 40K, and those few others that don't tend to only apply to a few Fantasy armies (Wasteland for example would only really work for Tomb Kings, Orcs and Goblins, Ogres, perhaps Vampire Counts, Temple would only really fit Lizardmen, or Skaven if they're defiling it, Chaos and Chaos Waste only work for Warriors, Daemons and Beastmen, e.t.c).

Good reasoning, the Wood base can be made very versatile with aging and growing of mosses.

I was directly drawn to the Cobblestone one. It does not specify that it could only be the color depicted here, so you could go sandstone for more middle-east type of armies or dark or marble or etc.
