The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

So Elon Musk basically gave the the Twitter Board of Directors two options.

1-Sell Twitter to Elon Musk lock, stock, and barrel

2-Watch the Twitter stock price sink a like a stone.

This will be interesting to watch. A lot of Twitter's employees and decision makers value activism more than money.

Also, I'm pretty sure if Elon Musk takes over Twitter, he will replace most/all of the board and some/most/all of the rank and file employees.

I am not an oracle of financial markets, but if Elon Musk does buy all of Twitter, at the premium he is paying for it, I cannot imagine he will be able to make all his money back. I don't think it's going to bankrupt Elon, but I think his net worth will take a modest hit when Twitter's hoard of duplicate accounts gets revealed.

EDIT: If I had 43 billion dollars to play with, I would not buy Twitter. I would create a media giant. First I would buy the rights to Futurama for however millions that costs. Then I would name my new multi-media conglomerate Bender Studios. Because I'm going to build my own media company, with black jack....and you know the rest.

Lots of adrenaline packed action movies and spy thrillers. Dealing with villains that are sex traffickers, organ traffickers, industrial espionage conductors, environmental polluters, and the like. Plus documentaries. Plus kid shows with softer allegorical villains but you get the idea. The CCP or an allegory of the CCP is usually the villain. Or for more cerebral things, the villains will be lying domestic abusers and/or cry bullies.

And of course push my own material (which I'm going to try to do without billions of dollars)

If Disney was willing to sell the IP, I might buy Winnie the Pooh. I could have some fun with that...

I completely agree. They have zero intention of fighting wokeness in the West. However, their actions still help to at least partially suppress Hollywood wokeness. Since China is such an important market for Hollywood, they are limited in the amounts (and kinds) of wokeness they can imbed in their movies. In many cases (there are exceptions), they are limited to superficial and less consequential wokeness that they can then easily cut out of the movie. So China still reduces Hollywood wokeness, and this will continue to be the case unless...
  • Hollywood stands up for its morals and gives up on the Chinese market :rolleyes:
  • Hollywood is willing to spend a crap ton of money on creating a completely separate cut of a movie (in which case, we could just watch the Chinese-cut).

As an example, imagine that a Kodiak bear fatally mauls Kathleen Kennedy. The bear has no desire to improve Star Wars. It's motivations are completely independent of Star Wars. However, the bear's actions would still have the result of improving Star Wars.

Actually I'm not sure what the real CCP policy on LGBT Chinese people is. It is document that they are killing, torturing, raping, and reeducating religious and ethnic minority but I'm not sure what the CCP is doing with their LGBT citizens. Officially, China has no LGBT people in it.

I'm guessing that they are leaning heavily on the reeducation side of oppression maybe with a dash of rape. The CCP is extremely desperate to get their birth rates up and non-binary people generally do not have babies.

I'm not going to pretend that CCP is a good actor in the world, they're not. Ultimately I'm no proponent of CCP, but likewise, I don't come anywhere close to matching your disdain for them. That said, let me play a little bit of a devil's advocate over here.

One thing I try to remain cognizant of, is the fact that we naturally view the CCP as the "other". It's basic human nature, we're able to magnify and distort the wrongs of others, and look past or downplay our own. We are all the heroes of our own stories. What if the shoe were on the other foot? What would we see from the other side?...

Imagine from their perspective, learning about the USA pushing gender identity indoctrination on defenseless school and pre-school children. After sufficiently (and predictably) confusing the children they were entrusted to care for, they pump them full of chemicals and hormone blockers. All this followed by mutilation of their genitals, which in turn results in greatly increased rates of depression and suicide. And it's the US government (at least half of it) that is ever-increasingly pushing this practice, while simultaneously taking away the basic rights of the parents (who are US citizens). Upon learning such a thing, I can imagine that we could easily be viewed as the villains too. And that's before you even factor in things like a significant portion of the country openly claiming that their own country is a racist, patriarchal and anti-LGBT cesspool... and burning large segments of it down. [please note that I only used the US as an example, there are similar types of things happening in Canada, UK, and so on. I'm not trying to single the US out]

I'm not claiming that the CCP doesn't have any dog shit in their backyard. I'm not denying that their piles of dog shit are bigger than ours. I'm just personally more interested in cleaning up my backyard before I start peering over the fence.

I enjoyed the Ancient Greek play Lysistrata, but I don't think that tactic would work here.

Regardless of your opinion on the law in question. That is a really dumb means of political activism.

I like Alyssa Milano's earlier work. I'll admit I watched a lot of Charmed. She was also a guest star on a huge number of drama shows I liked such as Castle and My Name is Earl. She even used to have a sense of self deprecating humor making a live action cameo on Family Guy.

I am willing to separate the art from the artist here. I'm not going to boycott her work because I don't like the crazy misandrist things she has been saying since 2016. I pity her if anything.

So I've seen and read a few reviews for Morbius.

Reviews seem to range between "Really bad" and "barely okay".

But one thing that is consistent is "At least Morbius isn't woke."

So maybe "Get woke, go broke" is not reversible.

"Avoid woke, become rich" is not a sure thing.

I have been watching the Amber Heard updates closely, but I haven't been posting them here. I didn't see the point, I figured anyone on this forum who is actually interested doesn't need me to point videos out to them.

The optics are not looking good for Amber Heard but her lawyers are competent. They got Amber Heard's ex-gf disqualified as a witness on the technicality that she watched Youtube Videos on the trial which is a win for AH because her AH hit her ex-gf. So now in the context of the court, it will be difficult to establish to the jury that AH is a repeat offender for domestic abuse.

I think it's funny that the AH's lawyers pushed for both Amber Heard and Jonny Depp not be allowed to sign autographs outside the courtroom. They know perfectly well that no one wants AH's autograph and it would be embarrassing to have JD sign autographs for a long line of fans.
